I loved What If and The Avengers during most of the 70's. What if went away (for a while) and the Avengers took such a turn in the 80's that I stopped reading comics all together. I think I didn't pick up a new monthly until around 2001.

What a blast from the past!

I've been picking up a lot of old 70s DC titles on ebay lately...

          Strange Sports Stories
Starfire (sword & sorcery chick...not the Teen Titan..or the Russian guy)
          Secret Society of Super-Villains
          Return of the New Gods
          Aquaman
          Showcase
          Batman Family
          World's Finest
          Challengers of the Unknown
          Kamandi

^^ With Showcase the three issue Power Girl story was the best, Hawkman wasn't bad and the last issue with OSSi spys at war wasn't bad, Challangers of the unkown issues 80 thru87 is a good read

^ There really wasn't much to the Showcase revival besides those guys and Doom Patrol. A lot of the stuff planned for later issues ended up elsewhere...like the Deadman story.

                  What a cool thread.

Green Lantern/Green Arrow - Maybe a little advanced reading for a youngster based on subject material.

                  Anything with Shazam

PowerMan and Iron fist - I had every issue at one point and had their solo 70's stuff as well.

Richard Dragon Kung Fu Fighter - THe long title make me laugh now.

Shogun Warriors - I'd like to see this collected in a trade sometime.

                  Micronauts - Same as above.

                  Scott
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

                      Micronauts

                      Captain Canuck (WAY underrated)

                      Shogun Warriors

Marvel Comics Fun and Games (Owen McCarron was a sweet man, his studio was close by and my friend and I used to sit with him while he worked on the comic).

Digests. I have oodles of the cmall digest comics. I love them.

                      Dollar Comics

Dial H For Hero (You could send in you creations and they'd be in the comic.. How cool for a kid!!!)

                      Iron Jaw

                      Kazar

                      Superfriends

Plus the Gold Key stuff. SMDM, Star Trek and so on)

                      PLus oodles more.

These were my faves. Brave and the Bold too. World's Finest and Batman Family got alot of my cash!

World's Finest had great backups with Green Arrow, Black Canary, Shazam and others.

Superman Family had Mr. and Mrs. Superman! What a neat feature on the Earth 2 Supes.

Omega the Unknown. Quirky book w/ enough story that I wanted to keep buying it. Haven't read the new series - Anyone have any reviews?

                                >TV 21 Comic

I've seen little sniglets from this one over the years and yeah, it looks liek they did a oot of good stuff. It was mostly tv tie-ins, wasn't it? (I remember a few prisioner stories.)

                                >I know its from the 80's but I really miss "Warrior" also

Never got to see it; but I keep running into folks who remember it quite fondly.

                                >I LOVE the '70 STARFIRE Series all 8 issues of it!

I thought I was the only person who remmebered this one....

                                Other good 70's books:

                                -Doctor Spektor
                                -the Marvel Star Wars comic
-Where Monsters Dwell. (Even though it was all reprints. I didn't know that way back when....)
-those DC reprints of old stuff like Space Heroes and UFO Invasion.
-the Warren mags. (Wish mine hadn't drownt all them years ago; I could really use a custom of the Crime Crusher. "Did I just hear a 'POOMPH?!?")
                                -The Eternals
-Scary Tales (I actually have a custom of the Baroness in the works.)
                                -Creepy Things
-Midnight Tales (One of my favouritest comics EVER!)

                                Don C.
