GOOD.. Was never, will never be a Potter fan.

Yes, I know they're good reading and all. Just not a fan.
    Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

Thank goodness! Both were good films, but I was really rooting for Marvel given what a bold experiment this is with building this series of films towards The Avengers.

I'm happy, but to be honest, it was not really a head to head battle between same opening released movies...Potter is in its sophmore week of release...while Cap is brand new.

              But I'm still happy.

I also wonder what Harry Potter's worldwide gross 2nd week out compared to Cap? The gross quoted was U.S. only. I can't wait to see Captain America but didn't get to go opening weekend (was out of town) so hopefully will help contribute to its Sophmore gross.

The sunday matinee I attended for Harry Potter was still packed.

Hopefully based on good word of mouth, Cap will have some legs.

Well considering it broke every box office record out of the gate and is nearing $1B (yes that's billion) international box office sales in just two weeks; I'm sure nobody at Warner Brothers is crying in their latte.

are we seriously comparing 2nd weekend to first weekend

i haven't seen a harry potter film at the theaters yet and I love cap -but financially they aren't on the same playing field.

Yeah, Cap did great box office, and is a great movie, but Potter is a phenomenon. And this last movie only dropped in the 2nd week because pretty much everyone who HAD to see it, saw it that first weekend.
