Everybody has different standars for what their children can watch and children react differently.
I am not going to let my 4 and 7 year olds watch this at this time because of realistic war scenes with young soldiers getting killed. there are some other scary and sad parts.
i may have them watch it on DVD while I skip parts.
it is more kid friendly than Iron Man 1.
i don't pretend like there is no evil in the world but i want them to be able to understand it and teach them fact before intertwining it with fiction as much as possible
for a typical 13 year old this movie is absolutely fine.
for my daughter and her 7 year old friends - no for me, but it is definitley a parental call.
for my 4 year old and her friends - no
7-12 year old ALTERNATIVE-- My 7 year old is watching the 1990 cap right now as I type. Though she was very sad when Bernie died. I forgot that was coming. She asked some questions. And we talked out it.
2-12 year old alternative - Captain America II Death too soon from the late 70's.
Also great for all ages- the limited animation Cap cartoons from the 60s. "When Captain America throws his mighty sheild!"
My picks of theatrical releases for younger kids:
Incredibles
Superman 1-4
Batman and Robin
Batman the Movie
Rocketeer
Dick Tracy
Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles 1-3
Supergirl (for little girls only - mine identified with a female lead and completely excused the bad story)
Spiderman 2
Mask of the Phantasm
flash gordon
phantom
fantastic 4 1 and 2
Steel
yes, some of these still have parts that some kids or parents might not be comfortable with but in general i would recomment to kids in elementary school.
slightly older kids (at least middle school):
spiderman 1
Captain america
Iron Man 2
Spider-Man
batman
batman returns
batman forever
batman begins
x-men 1 and 2
green lantern
daredevil
thor
hulk
incredible hulk
hellboy
high school kids are fine with most superhero/comic book movies
some that i would recommend for adults but not recommend for kids:
Conan the barbarian
V for Vendetta
Watchmen
Sin City
The Crow
Blade
Spawn
