I really liked it! They spent more time with Rogers as the 98-pound-weakling that I would have expected, but it really works. You end up really empathizing with the character.

I'd like to compare our comments here to the threads we had a few months ago, when we were all guessing how each of these movies would come out. Some were saying the Lantern movie was going to rule, others thought Thor would.

Happy to hear Cap's been getting SUPER reviews. I was doubtful a few months back.., will have to see it soon.

Excellent point! I for one thought Lantern would own the summer. How wrong I was. I was concerned for both Cap' and Thor and didn't even consider the X-Men First Class film a serious contender. Cap' appears to have momentum building. You should see the reviews on Hero Hype. No complaints at all. Everyone is loving it in OVERDRIVE. Comments like the "best comic movie ever" to "best movie this year". It's looking awfully good.

I just got back from the matinee. I was a bit surprised how full the theater was for a 1pm showing.

The movie was great. I thought it did a great job respecting the comic book tradition of the character. It didn't try to be hip or ironic... rather, it had a sincerity to it that I found really refreshing. And it was more about the characters and the story than some over-CGI'ed action sequence. Chris Evans did a better job as the Cap than I expected... honestly, my expectations were pretty low, but I was pleasantly surprised. And Hugo Weaving was a wonderful baddy as the Red Skull. This one is definitely worth checking out.
