Exactly, that type of condescension doesn't work. Also just having female characters isn't going to cut it when they have painted on clothes, arched backs and their breasts are just about totally falling out.

And yet nearly the entire DC costume line is now being redesigned by Jim Lee, one of the biggest offenders of this style of art.

Handing Hawk & Dove over to Rob Liefeld also makes no sense, as there's a title that needs precise characterization and would really benefit from a more plot/character/talking head style... as opposed to full page shots of heroes with pointy feet and boobs drawn with a circle template.

The only saving grace I see in these costume redesigns is that only George Perez & Jim Lee like drawing all those extra seams & lines. Within a few months the seam look will be gone as nobody else wants to pencil & ink all those extraneous lines.

There's a story making the rounds of comic news sites about a woman dressed as Batgirl with her daughter. She was asking the DC pannel about female characters and female writers and artists. The pannel, DiDio and Lee, responded with snide condescending comments and the audience booed her.

Ugh. I loved the characters since childhood but DC is making it really hard to like them or want to support their new DC universe. That boys club mentality of theirs is not doing them any favors. I sincerely doubt they care though. They have no interest in getting female readers and it shows.

Sad, and it just kind of bugs me. You can't REALLY reboot anything. We all know Lois and Clark married, to see them apart is just sad, more sad because of the difference between what we know and what they're trying to sell us. Sad, really. Doesn't make me want to run out and grab a first issue.

Every time I read about a DC panel it seems like it amounts to a lot of condescention & juvenile comments, a lot of it from Dan DiDio. I understand there's a lot of disabled fans out there upset over Oracle being miraculously cured and back as Batgirl. At the same time DC is trumpeting their "diversity", they are removing one of the strongest & inspirational handicapped characters.
