I couldn't sit through the whole movie. When his father died from an allergic reaction to a hornet sting, I knew we could only go down from there. It was essentially a parody not only of the Hornet character, but really of the whole genre. They didn't respect the material, so I hit the eject button. But, its like anything. It's what you bring to the table with regards to expectations. Most people today know nothing of the Hornet. So when they watch it, they have no frame of reference. For those of us who grew up watching him on television, we had a serious interpretation. Now some people will say those fans are being unrealistic in expecting a 60's style movie. My response to that is, I wasn't. Never would. I wouldn't even had cared had they changed him cosmetically. But I wanted the concept reexamined with the same seriousness Hollywood has given every other hero. And because I had a frame of reference to gauge that story, this was very disappointing.

I'll never watch that piece of garbage. I'm happy w/ the radio show and the TV series, thank you.

Folks..: It was not a Green Hornet super-hero movie. It was a 'Seth Rogen' vehicle, nothing more, nothing less.

It ruined what would be a very lucrative franchise, if done right. I recall Eddie Murphy was VERY interested in playing the role straight, back in the late '80s, after the Batman movie. He was going around to different studios, but apparently the interest wasn't there, perhaps right after Dick Tracy.

And like Michael Keaton (who up till then was only thought of as a comedic actor..), Eddie would have been a SUPER choice, and you could have had a really nice franchise, a couple of sequels.., etc.

Oh, they're bound to re-image in another decade like Batman, Superman, Hulk and Spiderman anyways.
                Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

I think those of us that disapprove understand it was played as a Rogen comedy, but wish the license would have been given the straight superhero approach.

Well, it was a mistake to allow a bafoon like Seth Rogen license for the Green Hornet name. He's an idiot. Whoever owns rights to the Green Hornet name should have shown better judgement. My opinion.

I don't think I'd put as much blame on Rogen as I would the execs involved. I read in an interview where he said he got into shape for the role. Was suppose to take the role serious. Not sure if it's true or if he made it up for the interview.

What shape did he get in?

                        It could have been worse.
Kato could have been Will Ferrel.

First time I ever felt sorry for Hollywood's $$$ investment
And I thought Micheal Keaton was too silly for a superhero role.
