Kryptonians like us, baby we were born to run

Superman Homepage - News: July 13, 2011: Grant Morrison Superman

    Hoo boy.

I liked Smallville. I watched it for 10 years. But I didn't really want to see the comic Superman dress down like this.

I'll take Jim Lee's Superman suit over Morrison's Jeans and T-shirt any day.

when are these knuckleheads going to learn fans don't want changes like these. I mean Superman is the most recognizable fictional character ever and they want to change everything about him. might as well just call him something else as well. I have said it before but Didio has got to go

It's getting to the point I don't care anymore. If DC has no respect for its characters, why should I? They almost seem desperate, just flailing about at anything--are things that bad for them right now?

Yuck. Why screw with something so iconic as Superman's image? Is it workboots that are supposed to make him accessible to kids today or the character itself?

Yes...and apparently yes. Most of the creators defending these changes have stated that sales were really low. Was this the way to get them up? I don't think so. I guess we'll find out if folks really vote with their $ in September.

"I want to make Superman a more contemporary character. We'll be changing how he looks, dresses and behaves. He'll be more like the Superman who appeared in 1938"

He will be more contemporary by making him like he was in 1938? 1938 is contemporary? That's even less "contemporary" than Lee's 1990's Image make over.

As much as I dislike the Jim Lee suit it's way better than T-Shirt Sup. The little Elvis cape really adds to the stupidity of the jeans and T-Shirt.

Do you think they are intentionally making this reboot so mind numbingly horrible as to get fans to flock back to DC when they inevitably change it back to normal? I guess that does make some kind of twisted sense. It is hard to imagine anyone at DC could legitimately think these changes are good. New and Classic DC on the way?

I still have the feeling this mess was probably caused by some random totally out of touch WB exec getting the idea to "Poochie" the DC Universe by making it artifically hip and trendy.

                          Who knows?

I do know that as a Superman fan AND a Springsteen fan, neither of them are well served by this comparison.

Exactly! At least it's closer to the Iconic Superman costume we all know and love(blue & red, etc...). Even thought the strange "armor look" makes no sense.
