Picked up issue one, and that was enough for me. Horrid writing, the pacing is so obviously slow for the TPB reprint, and Jim Lee just seemed to be churning out pin ups. Supposedly this book is being canned once Miller is done mangling the Bat.

      Same Miller?

I have been reading this and each issue is worse than the one before. Normally, I'd say that I can't believe that this is the same Frank Miller that wrote Batman: Year One and had that amazing run on Daredevil... But, I've read Dark Knight 2 so I now his writing has fallen off tremendously, but this is just plain stupid. Yet like slowing down at a car accident, I keep reading this rag.
      My Updated Want List:
      Comic book original art
1970s Hulk or Spider-man metal garbage can
      Custom Mego Nexus, Grendel

Have lots of comics and Marvel Legends figures for trades. Thanks!

I bailed out after issue 1...it just plain sucked IMO. Miller has lost whatever credibility he had in my book and Jim Lee is just along for the ride.

I sometimes wonder if Miller isn't "sticking it to the man" with his writing, and DC is paying him for it. He seems to have no regard for these characters at all.

The Lee art is pretty, but I can just re-look at Hush (notice I didn't say re-read).

In shamefully admit I buy for Jim Lee's Art ONLY! Miller seems to want to destroy His reputation for writing Batman...and DC is letting Him get away with it...and paying Him to do it??? I don't get Get! TDK & Year One are two of My favotire Batman Stories...why didn't He just pick up where "Year One" left off?!

Given his history with Batman: Year 1 and The Dark Knight, I think that All Star and DK2 kind of only works in the realm of self parody.

I think Jim Lee did stronger work on his run of Hush. Although that storyline wasn't anywhere near the top of the pile either, which is too bad given the strength of Loeb's Batman collaborations with Tim Sale.

A buddy of mine gave me the first couple issues. It's clear that Frank Miller read all the Brat Pack books first. He's been wiping his @ $ $ with BATMAN & DC for years. And I've been wiping my @ $ $ with FM's writing works for years too.

I stopped reading the book after issue 2. However I still buy the book for all those very cool Lee Pin ups.

.. In related news,.. the Batman Story arc "Rise of Ras Al Ghul, is on issue 4, & after reading it, just got me hungry for more !

Gave it a chance for 3-4 issues but it never gripped or interested me...Miller has had self delusions over how good he is for a while now ...and I wished he'd pull his head outta wherever it is and do some decent work again.

Miller is only really interested in doing his movies. There is no love or passion here he's just going through the motions and collecting his checks. Jim lee just draws pretty pictures.Which i don't mind I like his pin-up work.

i'll have to check these out.
i think that i'm so into the jim lee art work that i guess maybe i excused the bad miller story. i also agree that he's too into his movies now that writting for comics just seems like not so important to him. but it all started in comics right? but i think i'll keep getting all star bats and rob for the great art work by mr lee.
