It's not like they took a vote! It's just the decision of some suit distributing the movie. For all they know they're dead wrong and the movie would have done better with the US title. Who knows.

As MicromanZone said, movie names change in different markets all the time.

Errr, well in the case of Gatchaman, each version named significantly changed the tone, pacing and even basic story of the original. That went beyond the name of the show to also hack the show to death to create something new-ish.

“Captain America” or “The First Avenger” the story will be 100% the same no matter where it is shown.
