Gatchaman
Battle of the Planets
G-Force
It's all the same but with different titles. It's all good so long as people get to see it.Comment

Although I really can't get my head around the changes they made to G-Force: Guardians of Space. "Ace Goodheart", "Dirk Daring", "Hootie to his friends".
But yeah, back in the day, I don't think Science Ninja Team Gatchaman would have really flown pre-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.Last edited by samurainoir; Jul 6, '11, 10:52 AM.Comment

Don't forget how they translated Spider-man in Japan. Giving him a Giant Robot and fighting giant rubber monsters.
and here's how they translated the concept of Captain America...
As the female pink Ranger in Battle Fever J (the creators of the Spider-man Japanese TV show had the option for other Marvel properties, including Captain America, and this was the result)!
For that matter, Power Rangers went through changes to translate it into the American Market. I don't really hear the Otaku rage coming from across the sea.Last edited by samurainoir; Jul 6, '11, 10:46 AM.Comment

Hmmmm....
I dunno; this article seems to fall under the "Well, DUH!" heading. For instance:
>Might not be a huge hit...but we certainly wouldn't drop the Captain Britain name
Sure; but what if it were called "Captain Stalin?" (I can hear the pundits losing their minds already....)
>It's all the same but with different titles.
....and some content editing. (I’m thinking of the robo-centipede episodes in particular.)
>Army Of Darkness: Captain Supermarket (***?)

“Captain America” or “The First Avenger” the story will be 100% the same no matter where it is shown.Last edited by MicromanZone; Jul 6, '11, 1:08 PM.Comment

Errr, well in the case of Gatchaman, each version named significantly changed the tone, pacing and even basic story of the original. That went beyond the name of the show to also hack the show to death to create something new-ish.
