Green Lantern Sequel IS Coming!

The earthbound portions of the film are what held it back.

Warners commissioned a script for GL II last fall. While that did not mean the film would be made, this announcement makes it very likely. With the investment Warners has put into the property - the marketing, toys, the new animated series - it seems they are not ready to give up on the property just yet.

The film could nurture a fanbase on DVD and with showings on TV. This has happened with other properties.

If Warners were attempting to save face over the film, it would not announce a sequel. It would just keep quiet. There is no sense in announcing a film that's never intended to be made.

Making such a statement would seem to be the work of one wishing to provoke. May not be the case, but if it is, it's sad and pathetic.

On a different note, I see the sequel getting made, simply because I don't think they are going up to give so easily. That and knowing Sinestro will be the big bad in the next one already make sit promising. Aside from Batman and The Superman reboot, what else do they have to try? Another thing that might help if possible is NOT releasing it in the middle of so many Marvel movies coming out. Why be prone to the comparisons? How much better would this movie have done and been received if it was the only super hero movie coming out in that period of time? I wonder about that.

If you still wish to continue to ***** ..., when others injoy something go ahead I really don't give a Damn. It's just a Pain to sift threw all the Bull**** Constantly, with Each and Every New Thread, with someone Who hasn't read the Comics, or hasn't seen the Movie, but Continues to ***** about them, Because of Pictures, and it really comes off as Because others do Enjoy it.

I actually Read, and Watch Before I complain if I don't like something..., Not reverse.

BTW .... Superman Returns is not Even in the Same league as The Green Lantern Movie. It's not even the Same Sport.
And as far as I am concerned..., I won, Because I got alot of Swag Because of it.

and guess what, I can say what I want if you can moan about everything you don't like. If I saw it and liked it, I would have the balls to say so, I just am not going to waste money on a Ryan Reynolds(if it were the same movie with anyone but Van Wilder I'd have gone) movie, just like I didn't waste money on the Christoper Reeves love letter that was Superman Returns. If the movie was about the GL I grew up on and still miss to this day, I'd be all over it. Buts its based on the modern Johns garbage that I just can't get into. Its all about personal taste and if you don't get that its not my problem. THis thread was about a sequel and I posted an opinion on it happening, then you and your pal dragged Morrison into it as a dig at me plain and simple. All you have to do is look at the numbers (66% drop in its second week) to see this movie isn't appealing to the masses like WB hoped. Maybe the GL concept is too cartoonish for non comic peeps to get into, maybe its just a bad movie, maybe its the economy, maybe its all the competition, maybe the public sees it as just another superhero movie and just doesn't care about it at this point. Who nows? As far as the GL comics go, I wish it would move on from the stoyline that has been basically around since Rebirth. Funny the only two books to survive the reboot as is are GL and Morrison's Batman storyline, guess they are the only two selling for DC.

Maybe if you SAW the movie you'd realize that actually never comes in to play.

Not saying that the aliens could not be CGI, but on the other hand, lots of movies have done with way less and looked a lot better. Movies are really starting to look like vidieo games and less realistic.

Get used to it...And though I may agree with you on this point as far as things looking like video games, the fact of the matter is "Green Lantern" isn't the only film so steeped in this technology. The same argument could be made about 3-D films.

How do you do a "Green Lantern" movie with less CGI? Green energy constructs and 3599 alien beings? That'd be like doing a "Transformers" movie with actors in robot suits....

Sucks when your team is losing, eh BK? Maybe if you saw the movie 10,000 more times it would help get that sequel. Sorry I don't drink the GL Kool-Aid and think its the most brilliant thing since sliced bread. Just pointing out the facts with the box office of the supposed next big thing. I'd be all over this movie if it didn't star whom it stars and had way less CGI, especially the costume on the tool Reynolds. It probably would have been better off building up small with Hal getting the ring and fighting some Earthbound villains with a slight hint of the GLC towards the end.
