    Captain America 619

The Gulag arc was some seriously good superhero comics! Really enjoyed the multiple story lines with different artists. Wish that Deodata could have done the entire Black Widow story. However, Breitweiser & Samnee did a fine job finishing that up and their take on Super-Soldier was a lot of fun. Guice's work on the Bucky portion is some of his best! Beautiful and dark without being muddy.
Over Bucky-Cap's run I got the feeling that Bru would rather be writing about Steve. I thought his work on Marvel's Project and Secret Avengers was superior to his work on Cap. However, he wrapped up Bucky-Cap on a fine note.

Here's hoping Steve McNiven can keep to a schedule.

Brubaker's run on Cap has been epic. Throughout the bulk of the 80s and 90s (post Byrne, Stern, Zeck) Cap was almost unreadable to me, except for Waid's run. It's great Brubaker restored some heft to the character (concept) even if it was with bucky at the wheel.

While Bucky as Cap has been better than I could have imagined, I'm looking forward to the real Cap being back.

It does bug me that Brubaker did such a good job bringing Bucky back (something I was admantly opposed to at the beginning) and fleshing out his character only to have him killed off.

So, they're killing off Bucky for sure? I just figured he'd retire or return as another Captain America type hero with a shield.
