    Incredible Hulk -2008 Edward Norton

man I just got finished watching this all I can say is Norton go the Shaft from Marvel Studios and Kevin Fiege is a dumb arse!.looking at the film Norton really understood the character of Bruce Banner and you can also see that he was a huge Bill Bixby fan total homage to the man in his portrayel.it makes me mad that he got fired before the Avengers nothing against Mark Rofullo but Edward would have been better in those one on one acting scenes with Robert Downey Jr.I know this old news that went down publicly between Fiege and Norton early last summer but had to vent

    Kevin Feige your my hero!!

Norton was brilliant as Bruce Banner and did indeed get the character but the poor effects let the movie down for me, they were truly awful. I actually preferred the effects from the previous version.

Noton definitely brought some edgy cunning to the character that was greatly appreciated. He would have been terrific in the avengers

        Hmmmm....

It wasn't a bad flick. The Abomination kinda threw me (he's the Wuz-Wolf from the old Captain Carrot comic!) but that wasn't a real big deal. The effects were okay, and the fights were neat. I thought it was a bit odd that the army shows up in Soviet troop transports though....

The Abomination was so daft looking that they may as well have given him his trade mark gremlinesque ears.

I avoided this in theatres (despite being involved in the production) and finally broke down when it came on TV. What a joy this movie is compared to the first, it's compelling and has a great cast.

The only thing I found funny is the end, where the Hulk passes by several Toronto landmarks in the wrong order but that's the movies.

I found Edward Norton to be more engaging than Eric Bana, but not because Bana was a bad actor. Bana just didn't have a good script to work with, so he did the best he could. Norton's was more grounded in the comics and that made for a fun ride. But in the end, I was dissatisfied with both films. The film version of the Hulk character is just nothing like the comics. The comics Hulk (70's and 80's anyway) had his own personality and ways of expressing his views of the world (simplistic as they were). Both movie Hulks are essentially lifeless and without much reflection. Which is probably why you spend more time than usual noticing how "CGI" he is. I always thought a fully developed Hulk would play great contrast to that of Banner's perspective and offer an engaging character to follow. But the studios completely missed the boat on that.

This very well may still be my favorite Marvel flick. Liked it better than Iron Man when it came out. Too bad the first Hulk was so terrible that many people avoided this one thinking it was connected to that piece of crap.

If my memory serves me correctly, it wasn't Norton who was fired, but more like Marvel. Norton was heavily involved in rewrites and they took a lot of his suggestions and let him run with it to a certain extent, but when they wouldn't buy in full tilt to his director/producer/editor vision, he decided he wouldn't even promote the film. He actually showed up on a couple of talk shows the week of the premiere, and although he would mention it offhand if asked, he pushed other projects he was involved in and weren't due out for months. Somewhere between those two movies there is a great Hulk film, and I agree that Norton did a much better Banner portrayal, my real hope is that with Jon Favreau producing and lending his comic geekiness to the direction of The Avengers, that we will get a well integrated Banner & Hulk thrown into that mix, with Ruffalo just happy to get the job and take direction well.
