    Steve Rude needs work?!

    Incompatible Browser | Facebook

I'd hire him for a Big Barda series in a heartbeat. But then again, I'm sure DC would go bankrupt under my tenure... since I'd greenlight everything from Brother Power to G'Nort to Funky Flashman Adventures.

You couldn't do no worse than DC has itself for the last several years...

I love his work. He reminds me of a Jack Kirby with his own flare. I would love to see him on the Hulk or Captain Marvel...
If you're a fan of old-school toys, toons and comics then my blog is the place for you!!!

Steve Rude wants to draw Supergirl and DC turned him down? If that's not proof that DC doesn't know what they are doing, I don't know what is.

Editors at DC don't call him back? This is the kind of crap that will tank this new line.

Why isn't Rude being offered OMAC? No, give it to Giffen. Steve does a Kirby riff much, much better!

Steve, screw DC...go to Marvel and revive the All-Winner's Squad or The Invaders. Better yet, latch on to their Disney John Carter of Mars books!

He had a recent sale where you could get incredible pieces of his work for a total steal.

His last regular comic book work other than the self published Nexus minis and The Moth was a bunch of silver age marvel comics. There was apparently some deadline problems (I believe he only completed half of his X-Men project).

I just wish more folks would have gotten hip to Nexus!

From what I heard The Dude was working on fine arts to pay the bills because not enough comic-book work was paying the bills. He refused to work at Marvel because of the Jack Kirby dis-respect thing for many years but one guy talked him into working for them. Then Marvel turned around and fired that guy. Steve Rude was not happy. Then Marvel told him to tone down his art and make it look less like Kirby-and he ignored them and just did it his way anyway. I have to wonder if he has been black-listed.

What might help is if they hire him to do some new Rocketeer work on a monthly basis. Twomorrows needs to do a Modern Masters volume covering his work to let people know he is still out there. Maybe he should be on a regular Green Lantern or Space Ghost title. Nexus is similar in many ways to GL & Space Ghost and Steve has the experience in sci-fi comics to pull it off. He's also a big Star Trek fan. It wouldn't hurt if IDW did a Star Trek mini with Dude as artist. I would like to see him carry a min-series like that.

His last foray into Space Ghost was great as far as art but story-wise he needs to loosen up and modernize a bit. A simple plot about a reverse SG isn't enough. Push the envelope a little and pick up the pace on SG. It will work.

Just shows what kind of idiots are running things these days. My favorite modern comic EVER is the three part Spider-Man: Lifeline that Rude did with the Lizard. That book was incredible.
