Flashpoint - Frankenstein and the Creatures of the Unknown #1 Review

A couple of years ago Grant Morrison did a great take on Frankenstein for the DC Universe. Now Jeff Lemire takes over and reinvents the Creature Commandos with him. I take a look at this first issue that's a side story arc in the larger Flashpoint story. Jeff Lemire will be writing the new Frankenstein book when DC reboots it's universe, so this serves as a preview to that in a sense as well.

Interesting read...confirms my suspicion that I could avoid the Flashpoint spinoff series. I was thinking that myself, that none of this was going to matter as it'll all get "fixed" and the continuity will shift, making these stories null & void.

Maybe I'll pick them up later when they enter the reduced bins, along with the excess copies of 52, Countdown, Civil War, Secret Invasion, & Infinity Crisis that are already there.

Yeah make people care about characters in an alternate universe for 3 months only to yank the rug out from underneath them and introduce another universe which isn't necessarily the one you left prior to the 3-month interval....Way to go DC

This Incarnation ... or atleast a very similar look to the Creature Commando's Showed up a Few Months Back In Generation Lost for an Issue. Max Lord Mind Controled them all to Fight Booster and the Gang.

From the solicits it reads like Frankenstein will be back to where he was in Seven Soldiers as an agent of SHADE along with the Bride. So I guess Flashpoint U won't be the status quo after its done. I think DC really hurt this Flashpoint thing with the new DCU stuff announced so soon. Its probably keeping some on the fence people from jumping on the books.

Yeah it does seem as though they're going to follow the Seven Soldiers storyline. I wonder if they'll bring along any of the other Creatures. It does sort of make it hard to be too interested or invested.
