Female superheros. It's not the pants

Yikes! Both those pictures are embarrassing. I have no problem with sexy pin ups etc. I've drawn a few in my time...but those are over the top in a bad way.

It's always makes me feel a little better to see that other people get it. It would be nice if the comics industry would get past the idea that the readers of Superhero comics are all perpetually mentally horny teenage boys. Men with families also read them and would maybe like to have strong heroes for their daughters as well as their sons. Not to mention there actually are female readers too.

The classic costumes aren't the problem. Never were and putting pants on Wonder Woman or taking away Supergirls skirt doesn't fix the problem. Making sure Catwoman and any other DC heroines won't be depicted like in the Greg Horn pic again is maybe a step in the right direction. Nothing wrong with a bit of cheesecake or beefcake, here and there. But you know there is a obviously a problem when you see cringeworthy stuff like the Catwoman and Powergirl drawings

Gail Simone: DC, we need more female creators, stat. Really. Let’s make this happen.

I know several others were asked. But we need more and some are available.

Simone is pretty much the lone female creator of any significance in the solicitations of the relaunch.

Gender equality in comics is much much less about pants quotas and more about representation. If you want to get behind a cause, get behind this one front facing true believers!

Agreed. And I see stuff like that that somebody paid 25 bucks for and I'm wondering why I'm not selling my art on ebay...

Ken is a former Marvel and DC artist who was an assistant to Gil Kane, Rich Buckler etc....he knew Jeff Jones, Bernie Wrightson and Mike Kaluta, Frank Brunner, Wally Wood,Neal Adams

He drew Hawkman,Nightwing and Flamebird Superman and other stories did the Woverine story in Marvel Treasury Edition #26

He was was a pioneer in independent publishing in the 1970's and 80s with his titles 'New York City Outlaws', 'Rock Comics' and 'Starfighters. he also did a comic with the heavy metal Band Thor.

He was a teacher of mine in the late 80's and I assisted him along with other guys in the very early 90's. He taught me storyboarding better than anyone I knew and told great stories about some of the masters of comics. Ken was a great guy when I knew him and introduced me to Gil Kane, Armando Gil...and I got to know artist Mark Beachum through another artist who assisted Ken.

He's a better inker than penciler........
