Geoff Johns did a great relaunch of the book back in '03, after a few years of false starts prior. Johns gave DC and fans the Titans book they wanted. But when he went to greener pastures the title wound up in the hands of others who quickly sank it. I mean c'mon, having Deathstroke take over the title with a bunch of villains was a desperate attempt to boost sales. People expect characters like Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash and Wonder Girl to be a part of the team...If you can't do that for whatever reason, just let the concept lie dormant for several years until you can get it right.

Now if its DC that Booth is talking about as far as low sales, then I'm not sure if this approach is really going to help matters any...It's that spaghetti syndrome...Throw it at the wall and see if it sticks. Plus they're ****ing off people that already read their books in an attempt to see if they can gain new readers.

Here's a hint....lower prices, get stuff back into grocery stores and newstands, and tell good consistent stories...that's a way to reach new readers.

    Duh!
    AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which makes me think that some one in DC editorial (DiDio?) or higher up at WB came up with a list of things they wanted done, i.e. Babs as Batgirl again, and now you have to find someone willing to tackle the project. So instead of being creator driven with say Gail coming up with the idea and selling it to DC, everything is editorial/event driven.
Which has been one of the major problems at least since Didio took over (if not before): top down storytelling. Instead of letting your writers actually, you know, write stories, create things, you have editors driving the stories and putting the writers into slots. Doesn't exactly foster creativity or good storytelling. One of the biggest things DC's had recently is the Sinestro Corps wars and I think Johns pretty much created that one on his own, didn't he?
