Moore doesn't really give two licks about killing joke and is completely dismissive about it. He just wanted to work with Brian bolland on something.

The contract you are referring to is actually with moore's giant sentient beard, who makes all the ludicrous business decisions like this. His payment for watchmen consisted of only green m&m's and a case of tab soda (the beard I mean)

I like having BG back as Batgirl, IU really have wanted this since I read the original First printing of the Killing Joke. I loved this story (except for the Batgirl part) I never liked Cassandra as Batgirl. I do like Stefannie as Batgirl and hate to see he vanish into thin air. I hope they bring her back as Spoilor.
Since, they are going back to the classics, they should bring back the Original Batwoman. I dont much like the new Batwomans Outfit, they could at least give her the classic outfit back. All in all lost time, lost read and lost money on stories that do not count.

For some reason, I'm thinking that Gail Simone has worked too hard on Oracle to just abandon and retcon the character of Barbara she developed in Birds of Prey.

I'm going speculate that although Batgirl is still running and jumping around, they did not do away completely with her Oracle past, and perhaps Barbara Gordon is still confined to a wheelchair when she's not fighting crime? That would kind of be a cool twist. Whatever tech she uses to regain the function of her legs is not permanent and can only be used for a limited time.

Hey, I'd prefer a total reboot to this still-born approach they seem to be doing. Green Lantern and Batman continuity intact, but Green Arrow and Teen Titans get a total reboot? It's a mess.

If I had my druthers I'd go right back to just about when Crisis started. I feel that's probably the last time the classic versions of the characters were almost all intact. Comic writing had evolved with characterization, etc, and start from there. Say the characters have been around long enough to form the JLA, the Titans, etc. Dick Grayson just became Nightwing. That's the first real big, permanent change in the DCU. It would be a pretty clean slate to work from.

Going back to square one wouldn't be ideal, but it would be preferable to this cherry-picking nonsense, which we know from history doesn't work. But DiDio and Lee apparently didn't get the memo.

This is another bad move on DC's part imo. Barbara Gordon was a far more interesting and well-developed character as Oracle than as Batgirl (Yvonne Craig's "characterization" non-withstanding.

Barbara should have become Batgirl during the whole batman is dead thing....which is what they teased and then they made Spoiler batgirl....and while Stephanie did pretty good it was not what we wanted to see......however, this reboot thing is old already....how many times is DC gonna reboot. I mean come on already....just publish interesting stories and stop with all this gimmick ****

Barbara Gordon back as Batgirl is kind of like Barry Allen back as the Flash.

                  Why?

And, if one of DC's stated goals is to develope/promote diversity then why take an established and popular wheel chair bound hero and regress her back to a third tier character? This is just nostalgia run wild.

                  It's time to move on.

Barbara should have never been shot and paralyzed, in my opinion. Did not care for that at all. Barbara back as Batgirl is the one highpoint in this reboot for me.

It's the only case where nostalgia is running wild at DC. Well nostalgia for DC anyway. DC is lousy with nostalgia for Image nowadays.

Interesting interview with Gail Simone on this over at Newsarama....Apparently she wasn't sold on the idea at first and wasn't totally onboard with the whole relaunch in general.

Which makes me think that some one in DC editorial (DiDio?) or higher up at WB came up with a list of things they wanted done, i.e. Babs as Batgirl again, and now you have to find someone willing to tackle the project. So instead of being creator driven with say Gail coming up with the idea and selling it to DC, everything is editorial/event driven.

A lot of this sounds like DiDio and Jim Lee sitting in a room and just throwing stuff out there. Then they assigned it. People have to eat, so rather than be out of work, they write and draw it.

Brett Booth is already being somewhat defensive over the Titans relaunch. Sounds like this isn't a "Yes, this is going to be GREAT!!!" vibe among creators:

Well, I consider the 90s X-Men the proofing ground for Image. Since several of the Image founders came from the X-Books, and pretty much recreated the X-Men 4 times over at Image.

                                From the interview:
And I do have to say I’m sorry to all the ****ed off people. But sales were low, things needed to change.
Now I'm not sure if he's referring to the Titans title specifically or if it's DC in general...If it's the Titans then DC has no one to blame but themselves.
Geoff Johns did a great relaunch of the book back in '03, after a few years of false starts prior. Johns gave DC and fans the Titans book they wanted. But when he went to greener pastures the title wound up in the hands of others who quickly sank it. I mean c'mon, having Deathstroke take over the title with a bunch of villains was a desperate attempt to boost sales. People expect characters like Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash and Wonder Girl to be a part of the team...If you can't do that for whatever reason, just let the concept lie dormant for several years until you can get it right.

Now if its DC that Booth is talking about as far as low sales, then I'm not sure if this approach is really going to help matters any...It's that spaghetti syndrome...Throw it at the wall and see if it sticks. Plus they're ****ing off people that already read their books in an attempt to see if they can gain new readers.

Here's a hint....lower prices, get stuff back into grocery stores and newstands, and tell good consistent stories...that's a way to reach new readers.

                                Duh!
