Even if Batman and Superman and other comic books start over at #1. You know dang well DC will go back to the original numbering on the titles when it starts to get nearer to issue number 1,000 on a few issue titles.
It's has always been a great strategy and method when it comes to promotion on comic books. DC and Marvel are notorious when it comes to selling anniversary issues.
Restarting books at number 1 does not mean nothing to me. It’s just an additional title that has been returned to a number when in hopes for attention-grabbing to new readers.
When the “new car’ smell runs off the books and the artists and storylines start fall into the gutters. DC and Marvel will either cancel the book or find a creative presentation style.
This has not anything to do with the commentary above but I wanted to add about digital comics that claim to be on the rise on the Internet. It does not sound like a capable idea for me.
A comic book is something I have to hold in my hands, turn the pages and slip it into a plastic bag with a cardboard backer and into my storage boxes when I am done.
I think these new generations of kids today are kind of lazy when it comes to comic books and I can see why the digital comic book idea was invented.
With video games and crazy animated movies, kids and teenagers just want to kick back and be entertained. Our generation never had that and that’s why some of us found a comic book and educated ourselves the personal hobby and entertainment value of comic books
DC and Marvel comics can renumber, reprint or resell all their new and old comic books until the cows come home. It’s a losing set of circumstances. DC and Marvel have found the key to keeping their characters alive and it’s the triumph of live action movies regrettably (my opinion).
Just my two cents.

Well Supes has lost his numbering before....the whole "Adventures of Superman" thing during the Byrne reboot...and finally got it back. But Batman has never been renumbered so I agree it'd be a shame to see that book get a new #1.Leave a comment:

They should keep the numbering and put a blurb on the cover that says "Number 1 issue in a bold new era" or something.
I hate to see Superman and Batman lose their numbering too...

Looks like Swamp Thing, Nightwing, & Catwoman will be among the new #1s.Leave a comment:

Latest rumblings are that "Action" and "Detective" may NOT be renumbered because of their 70+ year history...Leave a comment:

>With DC's closer control by WB, they might be less patient with Didio, Lee and Johns.
Good point.... but it could also go the other way. I suspect the comics come in pretty low on the WB radar, since they're not the moneymakers; so it's possible the big bosses really don't care what happens. I'd suspect that, given how free they've been with the comic versions of Batman, Green Lantern, et al. Greater control would want a syncing of all versions for ease of marketing.

And if this doesn't work in the long run will it bring pink slips for any of its architects? With DC's closer control by WB, they might be less patient with Didio, Lee and Johns.Leave a comment:

>We've gone from the initial "negative panic reaction"...to the more positive optimistic attitude
I dunno.... I think this is just another non-event; and as such isn't that big a deal. It'll happen, the world will move on, next year there'll be another one, etc.

According to JMS, Dan Didio wanted to make this reboot happen right after Infinite Crisis, but was nixed by Paul Levitz. So he's making it happen now that he's got the big chair.Leave a comment:

I'm one of the few that's getter more negative the more I think about this. And, now this clarification that were getting a relaunch rather then a reboot ... please. If this is going to work it has to encompass the entire DCU.Leave a comment:

Unless they are relaunching things from a point where the characters are back at their "classic" status, than this whole thing seems like a waste to me, at this point anyway. Marv Wolfman pushed for a total relaunch with new #1s and heroes new to the game, and John Byrne wanted this for his Superman as well. We saw how well the piecemeal launching after Crisis went. Ditto for Zero Hour and Infinite Crisis.
It sure sounds like Green Arrow has been rebooted from square one. If the others haven't, that is a BIG continuity cluster right there. On par with Wonder Woman and Hawkman's retcon blunders. Of course what DC has done to Ollie and Roy in the past several years is borderline criminal, so the poor guys deserve a new beginning minus the stink from all of that.

I wanted a reboot. A relaunch seems like a waste of time if its the same old garbage with a new numbering system.
If I were to reboot, I'd start around the time Tim Drake becomes Robin and go from there.Leave a comment:

Well I think initially everyone was thinking "reboot" and now it's been confirmed that it's a "relaunch" so maybe we won't be losing tons....Leave a comment:
