The BIG disappointment in the Hulk movie for me was they should have had the Hulk wading through 100's of soldiers and tanks in the first desert battle....but they didn't and then the real laughable part was when Ross gets the phone call saying he had every resource available and it turned out to be a few helicopters and two jets...I mean..even if they cgi'd it, it would have looked more impressive to have 100's of tanks, planes and choppers...and the Hulk just wading through the lot unscathed.

A lot of my friends didn't like the Hulk movie either.

The one common denominator among all of them (my friends) is the fact that they were all big fans of the TV show and not readers of the comic book.

They disliked the movie mostly because Banna and CGI Hulk didn't remind them of Bixby and Ferrigno.

It was a haunting film that seemed to have an underlying "Sins of the Father" allegory.

If it was called "Monster" or something like that, I think it would be held in better regard but it was the Hulk and it wasn't a lot of fun. It's like making a boring Godzilla movie.

From what I took from the crew of the new Hulk film, this one is more about delivering "Monster on Monster" action. Which is pretty much why people buy Hulk comics, seems a smart way to go.

As far as I'm concerned, no one on Earth will be as good as Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. Call me a product of my time if you will. But to be fair, the only things I liked in Ang Lee's Hulk was when Talbot invoked Bruce Banner's Hulkout, which really got my adrenaline going. Other than that, I enjoyed the Hulk's battle scenes with the military, both the tanks and the copter firing the missiles. I guess I liked the leaping, but not sure of that one. Other than that, I found Hulk to be a complete and total abomination (pardon the pun). The scene paneling totaly stunk. It ranks right up there with Joel Schumacher turning the Batman franchise into a living comic book with neon colors as opposed to the darkness. Too much psychological drama and hardly any humor at all.
Eric Bana was bland as Bruce Banner. I did like Jennifer Connelly and Sam Elliot though. I can handle Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, but I will miss Sam Elliot as General Thunderbolt Ross.
I'm hping that the Incredible Hulk will wash away the stain left by "Hulk"
          Cheers.

This is another thing I found disappointing in the film. Rather than use the style in something like "The Andromeda Strain" which worked, the use of split screen to show 2 characters talking (e.g. the scenes with Banner talking to Betty on the phone), without borders made it look as though they were standing next to each other in a wierd shaped room.

It's an odd mish-mash of a movie. It tries to be "comic booky" by using the annoying panel cuts, but deems itself too high-brow to just be about Hulk smashing stuff.

It's a failure on all accounts, by my estimation.

Worst of the modern comic adaptations.

Another abomination (pardon the pun again) was making the Hulk in a way that the angrier he gets, the bigger he grows. That was pure unadulterated crap! I compare that to Joel Schumacher putting nipples on Batman and Robin's outfits. Completely unneccessary.
                Cheers.

                  *puts on body armor*

I actually liked the movie for alot of reasons,
                  1. I got to see my favorite hero tear stuff up
                  2. Hulk was the force of nature he is in the comics
                  3. They kept somewhat true to how Banner/Hulk are connected
                  4. The comic gutters were awesome, it was a comic book movie so why not have it?
                  5. Sam Elliot was awesome!
                  6. Hulk around Betty, leaping, and just being Hulk just blew me away! I thought the CGI was as good as it could be.
                  7. The Dog's were a great touch simply because Banner had such a fear for them when he was a little boy.
                  8. It even had his dolls he played with as a child in the comics!

                  The stuff I didn't like;
                  1. Bana's a great actor, (see "Chopper", he was great in that)
crappy Banner, too tall, muscular, and too dramatic. I always said Steve Buscemi or ED NORTON would have been perfect, FIGHT CLUB ANYONE?
                  2. Jennifer C. (awesome to look at but she didn't capture Betty at all)
                  3. The whole "Genetic" thing was odd, and I didn't quite bite down on that, but hey, I could live with that.
                  4. The connection to "David" (UGH his effin name is BRIAN!) Banner and Ross
was something I wasn't to crazy about like Joker killing Bat's parents.
                  5. Josh Lucas was a horrible Talbot but still I won't watch nothing he's in now cause I dislike (HATE is a better word) Talbot so much!
                  6. The whole Absorbing man thing left a bad taste in my mouth as well.

Now I'm going to assault the TV show, *Puts on more Kevlar*

The show was great for the 70's but for God's sake why have Hulk be so weak? This is a force of nature that can crack the earth's axis with a slamming down of his foot (WWH #5 for total proof) and bullets penetrate him?
HE DIES FALLING OUT OF A HELICOPTER? Put a clown suit on him why dontcha? People called me crying and I was laughing, I got the DVD for Christmas about 3 years ago and I still won't crack the seal on it because of it being such a joke! People are gunna get all down on the Hulk movie and not complain about that amazing crap called "Spiderman 3"?(Tobey M. was quoted saying the movie was "Okay") I KNEW SPIDERMAN FANS WHO WERE LEAVING THE THEATER WHILE THE MOVIE WAS STILL PLAYING! Please get off of Hulk tip, and get on something better, let's talk about how bad Punisher 2 the search for a crappy director is going to be. Anyone who rejects Walter Hill for a movie has raisins for brains, and WAIT SPIDERMAN 4 IS COMING too! I'll play devil's advocate here, Hulk may have had a bad movie, but Bats had 2 and Spidey has one and it's the one that shouldn't have sucked! I mean epic movie was better than that IMO!

If I have offended anyone sorry, but for the record I did like the Hulk movie for the basic reason, I got to see Hulk on the silver screen, nothing will take that moment away from me.

*leaves armor on and waits for the bombs*

I'm in the minority who liked the movie. Sure, some scenes were crappy and it was overlong but I thought the action sequences made it up it. It was worth seeing just for the action scene in the desert IMO.

As for worst of the modern comic book adaptations, I have to disagree there. Batman and Robin anyone?

Good point with Batman and Robin, although Howard the Duck would still have to be the worst of all time.

I should clarify. I mean since the first X-Men movie. That seemed to really start the ball rolling on this new crop of comic adaptations. I know Blade proceeded it, but few even knew it was based on a comic.

Batman and Robin may be the biggest misfire in comic movie history as a whole.

I liked it pretty well the first time I watched it. When I saw it again, the final third, including the ending fight (which i didn't like the first time), really ruined it for me. It just drags and then the fight is poorly filmed. You really can't tell what's going on at all.
