Smallville's problem from the beginning, they don't care what questions we have.

You could write a book on Smallville dangling plot threads. How exactly the caves were connected to everything was never truly answered, and that figured in mighty heavily to the first several seasons.

But then again, X-Files left as many, if not more things hanging. Nature of the beast, I guess.

I'm sure we'll eventually see some kind of comic book/graphic novel series based on Smallville's Superhero universe that might answer many of those stories. Even though Warners is focused on the next Superman movie, it's got too much of a cult following not to spawn some kind of continuation... just look how well Buffy did returning as comics after they couldn't launch any kind of additional spinoff series.

Alternatively, there is a generation of comics creators that have grown up on Smallville that will undoubtedly be influenced by it when they eventually take on the DCU Superman. To them, the Superman/Green Arrow team will be as synonymous as the Green Lantern/Green Arrow team is to us.

My biggest question was where was Lana, the super powered Kryptonite girl, when Clark was dealing with the Kandorians?

              On a smaller scale, maybe.

I'll give SMALVILLE all the "passes" in the world when it comes to
basic appreciation of it's accomplishments, despite me not gelling w/it
as of yet, but to think a TV show where Clark never had the suit will have
all that big an impact on writers, and how they'll handle a
Supes/GA teamup years onward as much as the GA/GL connection
sounds far-reaching. (Then again, Supes being the big character he is,
has a special relationship with all the big guns in the DCU,
sure it's not a BATMAN: B&TB type relationship... but hey!)

I was just thinking how much of the trappings of the George Reeve and Christopher Reeves Superman, and even the Radio show slipped into the comic book incarnation over the years.

Byrne has gone on record as attributing his sterile vision of Krypton among other things to the '78 movie, and Geoff Johns/Gary Frank run is practically a love letter to Christopher Reeve and co.

When you ask someone to think of the fortress of solitude, other than the comic store crowd, more often than not they will be thinking of the big crystal thing, not the door with the giant key.

There are a generation of kids out there watching Smallville now, and on subsequent reruns/DVD/itunes who think of Superman and Green Arrow as best buddies. That's bound to seep into the cultural mythology with four seasons of Smallville reaching such a relatively large audience.

I'm actually quite shocked that Chloe hasn't become more prevalent since her debut in the comics. She seems an incredibly beloved character amongst the Smallville fans. In the same way Harley Quinn is now a permanent fixture in the Bat Universe. Although I guess Harley Quinn is a much more colourful, and toyetic figure.

I was never a big Lana fan, and thought the show only really took off when Lois showed up. I found those Lana returns episodes kind of painful.

Though some of these are unanswered questions, they didn't all need to be answered during the series and none of them are plot holes.

there are lots of characters that are in any series that run ten seasons. you do not need to address them outside of the story they were part of. that would be one convoluted finale. only use the ones that move the story forward or bring closure.

                      answers:
                      1) not relevant to the series
                      2) not relevant to the series
                      3) A,B,C,E not relevant to the series
                      3) D they pretty clearly said they will.
                      4) not relevant to the series
                      5) OK this one was a little bad. I assumed they were rearing up for a big finale where we pit the LoD against the JLA/JSA but NO. Very sad. It may have been a plant for promoting a new series to the CW or other network.
                      6) not relevant to the series
                      7) Unlike Legion oDoom not bad because her story was told earlier. With the ring Like the Legion of Doom it may have been a plant for promoting a new series to the CW or other network.
                      8) Huge loophole? She's dead. Her character got to go from villain to hero and make the ultimate sacrifice.

Your post hits upon many solid points, yet I find the irony of the man with the L&C avatar posting right under yours.

Time will tell if SMALLVILLE has the impact of a Reeve/Reeves show...
                        I think it's impact'll be closer to L&C's scale as a result
of what kind of stuff drove both shows... stuff that worked well
with the shows, but may not have the strength to endure beyond that.

Actually with the Legion of Doom,I think it had more to do with the deal Lois had with Toyman. She did have him call them off when she agreed to wear the mind control device that looked like Starro.
