It's all loaded up on my ipad and I'm just heading downstairs to read it on the stationary bike. Can't wait! Hickman's stuff has been great, SHIELD, Scalped, Wolverine, Ultimate Captain America and Thor. I've also got his run of Secret Warriors that I'm going to read in one shot. Looking forward to X-Men Schism and his run on the Ultimates.Last edited by samurainoir; May 15, '11, 6:50 PM. -
I don't think folks who haven't been following Hickman's run for the past couple of years can fully appreciate what a huge payoff this issue has been. Seemingly disparate storylines dovetailing into one epic conflict with a huge cast of characters.
Kudos to Hickman for taking all that buildup through JMS, Dwayne McDuffie and Mark Millar's runs, not to mention Civil War, and creating such a memorable storyline.
He even picks up a number of seemingly "lost" threads from the Byrne years. From Franklin's mutant powers, to Reed's Time Travelling father, to the Inhuman's city on the moon.
Valeria is such a terrific character. A really good nod to her beginnings as "Doom's Daughter" as well. Even with the best intentions, can you hang out with with Super Villains and not be dragged down by them?
Despite how many feel about Spider-man on the team, I think he pretty much provides the best moment in this issue...
I know Hickman's writing plate is pretty full these days, but I would love for them to hand him Amazing Spider-man.Comment
