seems like a fun idea but since the consumer is only getting a copy of the original anyway - why bother actually cutting it? i have a cheap scanner and printer capable of that.

It appears that they are actually making rare "chase" cards out of the old comics panels.

$80? I have a beat up copy of Spidey #14 that I paid less than $80 for. It seems as though the parts are worth more than the whole.

The book still looked intact to me. If this book wasn't missing anything it's still a shame.

To me Marvel has been tearing up and cheaply reselling off it's legacy for years - this is minor. More literal, perhaps.

Well at least it wasn't this one that went for $65K the other week.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen done to a comic...and for what purpose?? Like Brue said...I have a scanner and some good photoshop programs that can do the same thing that they are trying to do without destroying a comic book. It's not like the Upper Deck Football or Baseball cards where they put a piece of a used Jersey on the card...this is a piece of paper that really holds no value whatsoever. Now if they were giving away original art panels...then THAT'S an idea. Just dumb if you ask me.

Their eyes can't hope to see
                  The beauty that surrounds them
                  Isn't it a pity".

They seem to imply that is what they are doing. Kind of like what you see with some sellers taking apart action figures because they make more on the parts than an intact figure. I don't really get it myself. Arguably to the card collectors, each card is a unique one-of-a-kind collectible, which is essentially what drives any market with an obsessive collector base.

I wonder what they do with the rest of the comic after they have cut all the usable panels out.

I know some collectors do try to assemble nicer complete issues from scraps of various lesser condition issues. Would there even be enough intact pages left for that?

Probably not. Sounds like they are cutting the cherry panels away and I am guessing (pitching the rest of the comic). That is really a shame because I am one of those collectors who will buy a lesser condition comic just so I can have it in my collection until I can afford to upgrade to a better one at a later date.
