Anyone see the latest Pawn Stars when someone had an original drawing from Todd McFarlane's Spidey comic with Venom. I wasn't sure if it was from the first issue or not. The seller wanted somewhere in the neighborhood of $12K and I think he was offered $1,000 for it because it wasn't cover art. He didn't accept but often wonder why someone like that doesn't place it on Ebay or a comic auction. I don't know if he wanted his 15 seconds of fame or just needed immediate cash. I am truly astonished with the type of items that people sell at the pawn shop instead of selling it in an auction setting. I am guessing that most of the people want cash to spend at the casinos. I have to admit that setting up a high end Pawn Shop in Las Vegas is perfect. I have cringed watching the other Pawn show on HGTV in Detroit and our local pawn shop is a dump but I do enjoy watching this show mostly to learn about the value of items.

I'm surprised he didn't go "Hi ma I'm on tv", I think it was more a bragging thing , like look what I have.Comment

I also saw one where a guy wanted 20k for his Transformers collection. I knew right away they'd never buy it from him. I couldn't figure out why he didn't just get a table at a Transformers Con or something.
I haven't seen the Spidey/McFarlane one yet but I'm sure I will soon enough. My parents like to record it.Comment

I think alot of them are using the turn down on the show as a marketing ply for the auction on ebay. They got free advertising and sometimes an expert appraisal before they even have to list it
some items are very difficult to sell on ebay (or in the case of firearms prohibitted) and artwork that doesn't have a COA has to be really toughComment
