Green Lantern/Flashpoint: The Green Lantern story was an updated origin tale (had Atrocitus in it). Flashpoint was the backup story - just a teaser starring Flash. -
I was at the Toronto comics arts festival and didn't hit a shop until the late afternoon. They had amazing spiderman left, in the evening I hit another store and they mostly had the indie stuff.
How was the flashpoint/green arrow title?Leave a comment:

Did pretty good - my best friend and I hit our regular store where folks could get five books per customer. Then we hit two more stores, one was relatively new, but was focused more on gaming stuff.
I picked up the Spider-Man, Thor and Captain America, Young Justice/Batman, Green Lantern, Elric, Worlds of Aspen, Adam West, Lady Death (from last year's FCBD), Civil War Adventure, Path of the Planeswalker 2, Star Wars: Clone Wars.
Didn't get the Green Lantern HeroClix though, as none of the shops offered it. I are the sad.Leave a comment:

I didn't go because I had to work, but they usually keep something for me. Last year it was all the same stuff from the year before mostly so I didn't think it would be much in the way of new new offerings this year anyway.Leave a comment:

Sorry Meule, the shop I went to was all out of the Adam West book.
I picked up some extra GL teasers tho.
I was planning on using them for prizes at our BD party, but kinda forgot they were there.Leave a comment:

Got to Heroes Realm in Lexington around 2 in the afternoon in the B&B/YJ book was gone, but I picked up a few others for the kids. They had all of their comics (except the past weeks ) for a buck a piece! Mostly picked up comics for the kids, but I did get myself the Batman one-shot from late last year with the unpublished Berni Wrightson tale and the reprint of Swamp Thing #7. Batman by Wrightson for a buck is a steal!!!

Go there late due to attending a wrestling convention in the morning so I passed on what was left. However the store has having a 50% off sale so I picked up a nice chunk of 70's and 80's Avengers back issues. This store has fairly low prices to begin with so half off there is like Christmas!Leave a comment:

Yes, Diamond makes you pay quite a bit to participate in the event, comics ain't free for the comic shops. I always make sure to make a purchase when getting the free comics, shop owners really appreciate that. Alot of people come out once a year for FCBD, get their free books, don't spend a penny and then wait until next May to show up again for more free stuff. My local comic shop has no limit on free issues when you make a purchase.Last edited by Janson; May 7, '11, 9:00 PM.Leave a comment:

Man this sucks! I don't have any participating stores by me...losers out of the 5 that are around me NONE of them are doing it...Leave a comment:

My buddy owns a store and limits it to three a person, too. I don't think that's unreasonable. You have to bear in mind that the stores aren't getting the free comics for free themselves... they have to buy them. If stores didn't have the limit, they'd go broke.Leave a comment:

Picked up a Green Lantern, Adam West, & a Pep...Cap/Thor, Darkwing Duck, & Super-Dinosaur...B&B, Richie Rich, & The Civil War (the historical one, not the Marvel version).
Yes, it was three to a customer only, but I hit three different shops! Bought a bunch of special priced bargains in each shop as well!Leave a comment:

It was crazy as usual...plus the owner was there (she NEVER is there on the weekend) and was being a stickler for only 3 FREE comics per customer...I only got the Young Justice and Pep Comics I was so disgusted. Instead of fighting all of the people at the counter I just figured I'll go back next week...They always have tons left over....
laughing ogre in columbus does it right - 2 comics from the newest promo section and GOBS of stuff from previous promos + etc. they also do high end face painting for kids, run deep discounts on other items in the store, welcome you in from outside, & have someone in costume. nice event.Leave a comment:

Ok, just got home...I got 6 freebies, (the limit was 5, but they let me have extra b/c they know I'm a teacher). They didn't have Adam West!(If anyone sees this before they go out, could ya pick one up for me?) Anyway, here are the freebies I got:
Archies
Inspector Gadget
A flip-a-doo Darkwing Duck/Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers
Richie Rich
Captain America/Thor
Young Justice/Batman sampler
I also got (paid for):
Scooby Doo, Where are you?
Superman/Batman Greatest Stories Ever Told
A Marvel Heroes Movie Theatre/Storybook set
There were a few kids there, little ones, and a couple of older ones, like 10 yr. olds. They got their freebies, talked about trading, and waited outside for dad, who was thumbing through the boxes in back. The little ones were more interested in toys. Thes rest were young guys, like in their 20s, and maybe 2 older guys. I also saw a bunch of Star Trek EMCE figures, and an Enterprise Playset, and some RAHs: Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Darkseid, Sinestro, Lex Luthor. No one but me looked at those.I didn't see anyone my age showing their kids the classic figures. I kept waiting for: "Hey, I had guys like these when I was a kid." Oh well. I won't stop hoping.
