"MORE GORILLAS!!!!"
I think part of the problem with this sort of story, as an older fan, is that you've seen it before.... a few times.... and the everpresent hype that preceeds it. The story doesn't just happen; it's already been dissected, analyzed, justified, with behind the scenes intrviews and articles.... WAY before it actually comes out. It's not a BAD idea.... no worse than any other superhero story at any rate.... but when it's played up so much you come to expect more than they can deliver. Hence the problem with my first point: as a kid and/or a new reader you haven't seen this sort of thing. There's a kick when you read it 'cos it's new. As an oldster/long term reader you get the emotional buildup from the hype, but the actual story disappoints 'cos it lacks the novelty that made this sort of thing so awesome when you read it 20 years ago.
