    Action Comics #900

Forget all of the "renouncing US citizenship"....Just gotta say that NO ONE draws a hotter looking Lois Lane than Gary Frank...

Dude has some mad skills and that little story was the highlight of an otherwise craptastic issue....

Seriously I found the art in the main Luthor vs. Supes story very distracting and I really lost interest in the story...

I really wish Geoff Johns and Frank would get back on Action...They are sorely missed....

I gotta say the renouncing america thing is so overblown, he's not anti american first off, and secondly the main story going on was really good.

What was it ... Batman 800 ? ... That wasn't worth it either, but I bought it just the same.

            IMO?

I got mine with the Alex Ross variant cover...So that I like.
            I also liked 2 of the 4 back-ups.
And the Brian Steelfreeze two-page spread.

Didn't care for the main 50+ page story
            2 of the back-ups
            The Richard Donner storyboard thing...

So not worth the $ to me....

Action #500 and Action #600 were MUCH better IMO

I haven't read the lead story yet, but I did look at the final page of it. Reign of Doomsday with 4 Doomsdays like Reign of the Supermen following the death of Superman. Pretty lame to me.

All the different inkers really made the art fractured.

Cornell's Luthor series had some interesting moments, but I still want to see what his Superman will be like.

Roberson's work on the Superman title has been decent, working with JMS' outline, but I'm ready to have Superman back in Metropolis or around the world being Superman.

I too liked liked the Gary Frank/Johns 3 or 4 pages. Wanted more.

I actually liked Goyer's story. Don't see why he had to have Superman say he was going to renounce his U.S. citizenship, though. He simply could have said his actions are his actions and don't reflect the US government and vice versa. DC has evidently issued a press release/statment saying that it won't follow up on the story.

It was a dumb move by DC editorial to allow that aspect of the story through, but now that it's done, not to explore the story potential is a waste to me.

If DC/Warner's is taking that much heat, it will be interesting to see if there is any editorial fallout from the story. To not realize such a statement by even a fictional American icon would push buttons was foolish.

DC seems to just be struggling with Superman. It doesn't know what to with the character.

Action 500 and 600 infinitely better. Action 500 is one of my all-time favorite comics. Action 700 and 800, I don't really recall, although I know a read them.

                Not a bad issue overall.

Really like the "evolution" two page spread at the end of the book.

They are waiting for Zack Snyder to save the character. You know, because he hasn't sold millions of comics, toys and DVDS for the last 20 years or so.

Superman, like Captain America, has paid lip service to the fact that he believes in the ideals of America, even if the country, or the powers that be at the time doesn't. I think DC should have stuck to that answer, and it wouldn't been a big deal.

It's amazing that Action has reached #000. I actually remember #500! Man, I'm old!

                    Just read this issue.

An okay finale to the big Luthor storyline... liked the build-up much better as a contemporary version of "Super Villain Team Up", it was fun to see Lex butt heads with everyone from Larfleeze, to Joker, Vandal Savage, Brainiac, Mr Mind etc.

I couldn't help compare this ending with the All Star Superman ending, and thought Morrison handled it better with the empathy angle than pulling out the old chestnut of Lex would rather beat Superman than any good he could accomplish. Surprising what a sympathetic character android Lois turned out to be. Wonder if we'll see her again? (would she hookup with Cyborg Superman?)

Not having read the build-up to the Doomsday stuff, I found it a bit lukewarm.

Gary Frank's art was the highlight of the issue. I'm sure his Batman will be cool, but he really should be drawing Superman.

Anyone else laugh out loud seeing Mullet Superman again on Brian Stelfreeze's pin-up spread?
