Reboot Zorro Reborn to be Set in the Future?

Following on from the disaster that was the Phantom reboot, this has to be the lamest idea that I have ever heard? There are reasons why some characters remain 'classic'

If you live in a post-apocalyptic environment, is there really any reason to wear a mask and hat? What would Zorro ride? A Ford Focus? Don't tell me the horses survived...Yeah, this sounds pretty lame. If your going to make a film about a classic character, it's wise not to stray too far from the core material. The Phantom reboot is an excellent example of how NOT to do a classic hero.

What is a previsualization expert? Sounds like a made-up title to me!

"In this version, Zorro will be less a caped crusader for justice than a one-man vigilante force bent on revenge"... ***?
Why do they seek out properties for use only to NOT do them according to what the public knows & expects? The Green Hornet fiasco wasn't lesson enough this year?

Not that I support this Zorro news in any way shape or form but

What fiasco? The one where the film was profitable and by and large enjoyed by the movie going public?

I understand many folks were non plussed and that's their right but let's not try and put "bomb" on a film that will likely gross 300 million after DVD and PPV.

The Syfy Phantom, The Spirit, Catwoman, Steel were bonafide fiascos.

Agreed! That first one was fantastic. If they want to reboot, they need to use that film as a guide.

I wasn't inferring the Green Hornet film wasn't finacially successful, only that it was different from what longtime fans preferred. My opinion only. However it was closer in fact than the SYFY version of the Phantom or John Carter of Mars were.

I like both Banderas Zorro films, although the first is miles better. Directed by Martin Campbell who is helming Green Lantern.

I'll admit, when I first heard Anthony Hopkins was play Don Diego De La Vega, I was a bit put out. But man, he pulled it off!!! Even in the flashbacks as an aging Zorro. That opening scene alone was worth the price of admission. A great movie.
