    B&B: Shadow of the Bat

Wow, this one was quite shocking. Nods to about every Batman vampire story, and TONS of Dracula references, mostly from the book (which I've been re-reading of late). Dala's look was cool. The twist at the end was welcome, as this one was pretty out there, even for B&B. But oh so much fun!

Yeah, I loved all the transformations that came straight out of Stoker's novel, particularly liked the rats. DeMatteis always does a nice job with creepy stuff.

I never really liked Kelly Jones' rendition of Batman, but I appreciated that they borrowed a few of the aspects of his style for the vampire Batman.

It kind of reminded me of an old Star Trek episodes, too, with it being set on the JLA satellite.

Brave and Bold has always been a crazy series, but their pulling out the stops in these final episodes. Jungle Batman was way whacky.

By the way, I love the first four chapters of Dracula, particularly the one with Dracula's brides. The rest of the novel's good, particularly the chase at the end, but to me those opening chapters before Harker escapes are truly scary.

I'm with you. As long as Batman was on-screen, it was fine. But his Alfred looked like he was storing walnuts for the winter, and Robin looked like a 5-year old. Jones is best utilized on horror stories, not straight super hero stuff.

Agreed. Re-reading it, I'm reminded of what an evil bastich Dracula is. All of these movies that over a softer side are really full of bunk. It's why I think overall Christopher Lee's portrayal "GETS" Dracula.

Jones' style just didn't fit super heroes for me, but I agree it did work better with the Red Rain Batman stuff.

In the early 80s, Gene Colon (master Tomb of Dracula artist) drew an arc where Batman became a vampire. I don't remember who wrote it for sure, but I'm thinking Roy Thomas. It struck me as a weird choice for the book, but it was OK.

Yeah, in the novel, Dracula's basically a demon. The epistolary style of the novel portrays him from different vantage points, but none of them are sympathetic. I would agree Lee's version of Dracula is more in tune with the novel. He's a predator with frew human traits. Someone may have already done it, but it might be interesting to have the story told from Dracula's point of view and maybe a few of his servants.

While I enjoyed the film versions with Frank Langella and Coppolla's with Gary Oldman, they both take great liberties with the novel's portrayal of Dracula and crafting a love story that isn't in the novel. Dracula became more of a protagonist in the films, which probably was a good choice cinematically. Browning and Lugosi's version isn't any more faithful to the novel, but I love the aesthetics of the early portions of the film.

"Night of the Batmen" was a lot of fun. I especially liked seeing the Vigilante, and the Mego era Catwoman!!!

Loved seeing all the different Batmen at the end. My son and I paused it to see how many we could name.
