....and it looks like there's a touch of Brian's "Crisis of Infinite Archies" too!

That's actually pretty interesting. I've never remotely considered myself an Archie fan, and that wasn't hard for me to follow at all. I guess I knew more about it than I realized. It kind of makes me want to pick up an issue, if the writing's that intriguing.

I've seen a lot of folks say that after reading this article. I'm kinda lukewarm on the idea. While it seems fairly well done so far, I don't like that Archie is entering the event based runs fray that's plagued Marvel and DC for the last 10 years. They've done "event" arcs before, but they usually happen and then fade with little fanfare. It's the hype more than the story that worries me with things like this.

I don't mind it as long as it doesn't contaminate all the Archie titles. It actually sounds kind of interesting. That artwork kind of looks like Norm Breyfogle doing Archie...?

I read that, sadly, when the image comics style and more anime/manga-influenced art starting really taking hold in the 90s, he just stopped getting work from editors. And I agree it's a shame -- he was THE artist with a solid, fresh, and still traditional take on the character, a great story teller who also designed one of the top 5 coolest batmobiles of all time!

I thought I heard Breyfogle actually tried to bring suit against DC for age discrimination or some such? Not sure if it's true.

I loved his work. His Batman had a twinge of Don Newton, but with a much looser, cartoony vibe. I used to own an original page form his Tec run.

Joe Staton has spent the last 10 years drawing Scooby-Doo. They are probably safer in those jobs than on the super-hero titles with big turnovers and fickle editors.
