Any reason why it's named Clint? And they really shouldn't let anything obscure the bottom of the "L" and the "I" like that. Big no-no in publshing. Like using the word "flicker in comics back in the day.

Given the fact that mark millar introduced a character to the sonic the hedgehog universe named Clint flicker in the sonic comics he wrote, you are probably right.
Given that kick *** and superior are being serialized in this mag, in larger format than the regular comics, I,m thinking this might be a good deal. How are the quality of the articles?

That is exactually why is is called Clint. Millar said in an interview when the magazine was first launched that he loved calling it that due to the fact that you weren't allowed to use the word in old comic scripts due to printing being poor and letters would often bleed over and... well you know what he is doing.

Yeah - that's what I figured, CLINT and FLICK were verboten in comics.
So comics weren't allowed to use Hawkeye's real name?
I don't think either word was banned by the Comics Code (in fact I think there is a "Comic Urban Legends Revealed" on this subject) but most publishers shied away from using those words, due to the chances of the ink bleeding together. I know Dick Giordano took some heat for letting a Creeper villain have the name "Flicker" and even get mentioned on a cover!
...And yes, I have been reading that magazine since the late 70s. My brother had a CRATE of them in his closet. Ohhhh....nevermind...just noticed that extra letter in the title there...

You're probably right - I should have said "supposedly verboten". I've only heard people mention it in fanzines or Comics Journal interviews as a sort of spoken insider's rule. I don't believe I've heard anyone claim it was part of The Code. I always kind of assumed it was an old pre-code general rule.
It may just be an old typesetters rule too - just to make sure those letters in those words have enough spacing around them if they're in all caps.
