I'm always a bit nervous about how my favourite prose gets translated to the Big Screen, but Gaiman's adaptations have been handled quite well... I loved both Stardust and Coraline.

American Gods would be cool, although the one I really want to see as a movie is The Graveyard Book.

I thought Neverwhere was tedious to watch, though the novelization was great. Then, the guys that were supposed to produce Anansi Boys wanted to make the main characters white, so it's a blessing that never happened. Hopefully, American Gods gets made by someone who cares about the work and they try to cast appropriately. We don't need Anthony Hopkins as Mr. Wednesday or Morgan Freeman as Mr. Ibis, but actors appropriate to the characters.

Yeah, I'm as big a Gaiman fan as they come, and it seems that any time he writes FOR the screen, it's problematic. The nature of collaboration I guess. Neverwhere worked much better as a novel.

Mirror Mask and Beowulf both were good eye candy in their own way, but tough to get through. Gaiman's prose is "thoughtful", but that doesn't necessarily translate in terms of pacing.

I think Stardust and Caroline worked because they captured the spirit of the work without being slavish to it.

I'd like to see Harry Sellick tackle The Graveyard Book if they go the animated route.

          Stardust blew donkey.

However, I loved American Gods and will see the movie if/when it happens.
