Adrianne Palicki cast as Wonder Woman for NBC and David E. Kelley

    Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

    By David Hyde

Adrianne Palicki (“Friday Night Lights,” “Red Dawn”) will star in the title role of “Wonder Woman,” a new series pilot from David E. Kelley (“Boston Legal,” “Ally McBeal,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”).

The series pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman – a/k/a Diana Prince – is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. Kelley and Bill D’Elia (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice”) are the executive producers. The pilot was written by Kelley and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (NBC’s “The Event”). “Wonder Woman” is from David E Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Palicki, who appeared as Tyra Collete in NBC’s acclaimed “Friday Night Lights,” will star in the upcoming feature-film remake of “Red Dawn.” She also starred in the horror film “Breaking the Girl” and in the recent series “Lone Star.”

She was pretty good on Friday Night Lights, but I never imagined her as Wonder Woman.

Why can't these boneheads stick to the original origins? This sounds so stupid, I would like my Daughter to grow up on the real Wonder Woman. This sounds like a waste of time and probably won't make it past the first season. Just my two cents.

Ditto...it's just the Bionic Woman all over again.

She will probably wear a white outfit and fight crime with no superpowers, only Judo.

She's very pretty. Nice figure in a slim willowy way...

I can't see her as Wonder Woman. With a black wig and after 6 months training, maybe...

                    Maybe...

And another 5 ibs of silicone. Wonder Woman is an Amazon. She should be at least 5'10" and have a healthy build. This is almost the same thing Smallville is doing. I don't and won't have time for this. Too bad, Hollywood could make a great Wonder Woman if they wanted to.

She is 5' 11"...so she's more than tall enough.

My problem is that she's ordinary looking...yet another Southern Californian blond you see everyday in the streets....yawn.

I want my Wonder Woman to be a bit more Mediterranean-looking...you know...like an Italian or Greek woman.

                        Yawn...she's boring-looking.

I was hoping for someone more ethnic looking too. I'm glad they picked someone tall at least, but I just don't see her as WW.

I'll reserve judgment until I see her in costume...if she has one. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't go with the current Lee get-up. It's like a Smallville WW costume.

So they jettisoned the Amazonian origins? Or are they there in the background, just not emphasized?

Edited to add: This actress kind of sorta played Supergirl first:

I'm don't see her as Wonder Woman. I remember Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman and while some of the stories were weak and comic bookie by todays standards she looked the part from head to toe. A tall, beautiful woman with a real body that filled the suit out.

Also, if they don't stick to the original origins I'm not watching. I didn't watch the new Bionic Woman and if they go that direction I'm not watching this. I'm only sticking with Smallville because I've been with it from the beginning and this is the last season.
