This suit looks to me like it was inspired by the Ben Reilly "clone" Spider-Man suit, in certain ways.

But whats with the Black Mesh? It reminds me of the Space Shuttle Tile pattern on Supes returns and Spiderman1-3.

It's photo-shop over the rubber suit to give it a different texture. Eh...

Rhys Ifans is playing Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard.
Also, Irrfan Khan is supposedly playing Nels Van Adder/Proto-Goblin.

(And there were rumours that Philip Seymour Hoffman was playing Venom, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.)

Nels Van Adder was an employee of Osborn Industries, and was used as a human test subject, transforming him into the "Proto-goblin."
