Does Thor need an Alter Ego?

Does Thor need to have a Secret Identity?

If you think he does, which identity? Donald Blake, or one of the other's he's adapted over the years?

Do you prefer his adventures steeped in Norse Mythology and set in Asgard and the other magic realms, or more down to earth and super-heroic?

I think he does need an alter-ego. I liked the emt guy. I think they should be more superheroic and maybe drop the shakespearean english (which never made sense anyway) and just have him maybe not say alot, maybe not use contractions.

Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

I liked Dr.Donald Blake as a kid......but grew out of it and just wanted him as Thor all the time.

I like a mix of Giant mythic stories of him against bigger than life foes, but also always liked when he walked among the mortals.

Not too fond of Thor coming home to a wife and kids and paying fantasy football and channel surfing....

Donald Blake might be my least favorite character in the Marvel Universe. He's got the dumbest origin of any hero (he found a stick?!!), it's no wonder they've revised it so much over the years.

Even his job as a doctor is not well thought out. He has a general practice, but he's also a top surgeon and does experimental lab work - and yet he totally lacks any specialty. One time out of the blue he even built an android. Huh?

Basically he's the shell of every other Stan Lee hero - a super scientist with a different title "doctor", which seems to have only been though of so he could have a built in love interest in his nurse.

I'm not really sure how much of this they played with the story later to clear up these details. I know they explained that Odin actually transformed Thor into Blake to teach Thor some humility. He's so brilliant, but it never occurs to him that he doesn't have a family? He never even seems to think about it.

Anyway - obviously I'm not a fan and it confused me when I was a kid.

You know I dont really feel he needs one ...... He's the Thunder god. Anyways I know he has had a few but I never cared much for his alter ego. On a side note I always wanted a figure of the " Bearded Thor " look ..... dunno why just always have.

Oh wow - I just looked this up. So, he needed Nick Fury's help to figure out that a beard and glasses was a good disguise? Wow, Thor is a dummy.

I do like Simonson, and I loved when he turned Thor into a frog --- on second thought can I pick the frog as my favorite Thor secret identity?

The Donald Blake character was a pretty obvious riff on Billy Batson/Freddy Freeman with a little King Arthur/Sword and the Stone thrown in for good measure by Lee and Kirby.

Every hero had a secret ID in the early 1960s, but like others have mentioned my favorite Thor stories had very little to do if anything with Blake.

Seems like new creators on the series have often had good intentions for the character, but then Blake just gets lost in the shuffle.

I do like the idea of Thor being de-powered by Odin to be humbled, which seems to be the movie storyline starting point.

I don't think Blake should be retconed but I don't mind if he's not used in the comics. As far as the movie, probably works better without even using him.
