Zack Snyder is in the same position Nolan was "Batman Begins"... They're both following previous films that were so awful, there's very little chance to fail. Though I personally have no faith in this film, I can pretty much guaranty it will be better than the Brian Singer disaster.

i actually searched to make sure it hadn't been posted before starting this thread - 41 minutes before the other thread. i figured Science Fiction with a description including "Movies, TV, and Literature" would be OK to post it in. i didn't notice the subject matter overlap in Comic Books. I think it will be hard to see anyone as Superman.
Welling has worked well because he is an Elseworlds tale. It happens outside the DC universe canon <Also the reason he can't be in a movie designed to fit in the DC canon. I would like to see him in a made for TV movie or Spin Off but probably not a big screen mainstream version.
Dean Cain was acceptable but again the stories theme was around moving his alter ego forward -not the cape. It did not try to be tthe 78-80 superman.
Even though it seems somewhat dated when I watch C Reeve version now, he (and company) defined the character for our generation.
Maybe that is the key "our generation". "Returns" tried to appeal to our generation rather than redefining the character for a new generation. People (me included) LOVED george reeves - but they didn't try to do Reeves version in the 1978 Superman. They did pay homage to it, but that was it.Last edited by Brue; Jan 31, '11, 10:16 AM.Comment

^That's what they need to do Brue. I love Reeve, and he's MY Superman. I also liked George. But this generation needs THEIR Superman, not a warmed-over version of Chris Reeve. Routh did fine with what he had to work with, but he wasn't playing Superman, he was playing Chris Reeve's Superman.

I appreciated Singer giving us a last chapter in the Donner Superman universe; a decent final episode in that movie series.
But now I'm looking forward to the reboot... hoping maybe they'll follow the comic books even more closely than ever before.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

The highlight of Superman Returns for me was Jimmy. He was AWESOME in that movie. He had the best facial expressions and he delivered his lines with an incredible sense of humor.
Lois kind of missed the mark. She wasn't aggressive enough. She was really pretty though.
I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with this time around.Comment

I just want Superman to punch something (or someone) really hard. I really enjoyed the plane scene and the gatilin gun scene but the lifting of the big rock was anti-climatic. And if Lex Luthor is even mentioned as being in this one I will scream.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment
