Direct your Dream Comic Book Movie:

Obscure but I want the late 1980's miniseries "Foolkiller" it lost the comics code on the third issue and just got better.
Crazy , great story about how nuts vigilantes are. More realism than Watchmen.

I'd make it a big "B" film, have actors that fit the roles , no Hollywood pretty boys , and I'd lose millions.

Although he (obviously) appeared in novels prior to comics, I don't think an accurate portrayal of Tarzan has ever been committed to film. Greystoke was close, but Lambert looked wrong, and I'd like a bit more of the action from the old Joe Kubert stuff. Tarzan always comes off dull to me in films, and there's no reason for it, although I'm not sure it could be made if it was closely adapted--Burroughs' stuff can be extremely graphic in it's violence and it is chock-full of nudity.

Sorry to double-post, but although Tarzan and the Lost City really tried, the bwana-type Tarzan doesn't do it for me. The sophisticated guy in khakis and a pith helmet that treats chimps as pets should be left alone in favor of a creature of naturally high intellect attempting to ascertain just who and what he is among the mangani he views and family and friends.

Back in the late 80's I felt The Dark Knight Returns should have starred Charlton Heston as Bruce, Jason Robards as Gordon, Sir John Guilgud(sp?) as Alfred, Tim Curry as Joker, Joan Collins as Selena and Brigitte Nielsen as Bruno and Chris Reeves as Superman.

Crystar! Even tough rendering caustics can be a pain in the ***, you could get away doing it in CG rather convincingly.

Nova would be cool, but his story is similar enough to Green Lantern's that most people would probably cry plagiarism.

I would love to see a genuine, stand alone, Silver Surfer movie. 'Nuff Said.

And as cheesy as it would be, what about an Atari Force movie? We could do a Yar's Revenge animated short to play before the feature.

A REAL Dungeons and Dragons movie. Make it like the first Star Wars prequels meaning fill the scene with MONSTERS, Elves, etc. Lord of the rings was nice but too clean. I would want the DandD movie populated with all kinds of things. Go on a quest inside a dungeon etc.

Umber Hulk, that monster that looks like a dungeon floor etc.

I'd love All-Star Superman to be adapted into a series of movies or a mini-series.

I'll second Lady Zod's suggestion for an Invincible movie.

Astro City: Life in the Big City. It would be like Pulp Fiction with supeheroes.

Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

I'm pretty sure Mystery Men was my dream comic movie --- perfect source, perfect cast --- that is, right up until I actually SAW it. Wot a stinker.

                        Now I'm done with dreams.

Maybe a Spider-Man or a Fantastic Four movie that took place in the 60s would be really cool. That will never happen in a million years though.

On a related note - I liked the first two Spider-Man movies for the most part - but would it have killed them to step away from the typical bland traditional movie score and used a little 60s rock n' roll inspired instrumentation just to get a bit of the 'vibe'. Maybe even a taste of the original cartoon theme in the score in some scenes? It's like people who write comic book movie scores are allergic to anything slightly catchy or hummable now.

I'll put that on my dream list - comic movie adaptors - make a fun score just once!
