What is your favourite Bernie Wrightson work?

Thought I'd spin this into another thead since it seems like many of us are huge nuts for Wrightson's work.

I liked the stuff he did with Warren Publishing and his Frankenstein Illustrations are Jaw dropping goodness......also loved his Captain Sternn that appeared in Heavy Metal magazine and then in the movie The Creepshow comic Book adaptation.....and the Thing/Hulk graphic novel.

Definitely Frankenstein. I think he gave that book a whole new feeling with his visuals.

That Creepshow graphic novel gave me nightmares, but I couldn't stop reading it when I stumbled across it in the bookstore as a kid!

years later when I did finally see the movie, I was a tiny big disappointed that it never quite freaked me out the way the Wrightson art did.

I was never big on any of Wrightson's Superhero stuff, but this one worked because of the Monsters.

Loved the punchline of The Big Change.

I guess if you had to have him doing Superheroes, having him draw the Aliens at the same time isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I kind of have a soft spot for Hooky as well.

Big Change was fun but I dont remember the artwork grabbing me like Hooky

Wrightson is one of my favourite artists; I've liked pretty much everything he's ever done, be it for Warren, Marvel, DC or whoever. Highlights for me are the illustrated edition of Frankenstein, his work on Swamp Thing, the Creepshow adaptation, and his illustrations in Cycle of the Werewolf.

Swamp Thing, and for me, in particular, the Batman issue. WOW. Kelly Jones owes his mini-career on Batman to that one issue.

Batman: The Cult had some good stuff too, although that was Wrightson in his more rushed mode, with less lushness.

Frankenstein is off the charts. A masterpiece.

I always hoped Kelley Jones would up his game, particularly after reinventing himself on that Sandman arc in Hell, but at a certain point he did get kind of stuck into this zone halfway between Wrightson and Bisley.

That late 80's period was kind of an odd time for Wrightson, doing Superhero stuff with Jim Starlin that kind of skirted the edge of Horror.
