I'm not that excited about Bane, but I trust Nolan enough to find a cool spin on the character.

I could be down with Hathaway as Catwoman (not my first choice though) but Bane just doesn't do it for me. I'm not sure if anything could top the Joker/Two-Face combo of Dark Knight though...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

oh crap I did not want to see Catwoman in the last installment as for Bane Tom Hardy should play the Riddler,
but these are just all rumors for the next villians nothing has been confirmedComment

According to a Warner Bros. press release, Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
I'll have more on this later, but I've known Hardy was Bane for a while but was sworn to secrecy. And As I've said for a while now, I've long heard that Nolan and co. wanted to use Catwoman in a possible third Batman film -- IF they could find a way to use the character in a fresh manner. BOF was also privy to knowing that the TDKR announcement was coming, but I had to play it off a bit -- sorry folks!
I should have know Brian doesn't go about posting rumors.
Edited to add: I bet Chuck Dixon is happy. He get's participation anytime Bane is used. He told me Batman and Robin sucked, but it bought him a house!

I like the choice of Hathaway. I just hope the character is more in line with the comic than what Burton served up.
I never liked Bane until he showed up in Suicide Squad.
I don't get the fascination with the Riddler. I know he is well known because of the TV series and the Jim Carrey Batman movie, but I've always seen him as a lesser version of the Joker.
Much rather see Ras Al Ghul again or Hugo Strange or Poision Ivy or just allow him to fight the mob.Comment

BOF had the press release up too:
BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is slated for release on JULY 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
Hathaway is a good actress, and under Nolan will make a fine Catwoman.
Basically Nolan could have cast George Lopez as King Tut, and I still would have trusted him to make a good movie.

I am not surprised... Bane is the "Modern-Day success/Venom"
of the Bat-verse and Nolan is caving in the third just like Raimi did.
I'm sure the studio scrambled, pushed and pulled to get
the OTHER white meat: HARLEY QUINN into this one too...
but with Ledger's death it became a lot less palatable."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
