I'm guessing the first release will generally set the tone for the rest of the movies. If Thor is first and bites it big time; it will probably have a negative impact on the rest of the movies. Fortunately, most movies usually catch on from word of mouth. There will be the initial viewers (like most of us) who will go out and catch it opening weekend. The rest will wait it out to see if it is good, bad, neutral etc. before laying out their dollars. Similar to Green Hornet. It is getting some good reviews here and I'm interested in seeing it now that I heard it was pretty decent.

Is Hollywood testing the staturation point for superhero films?

I think what you see is Marvel re-branding some of their established characters. X-Men is getting a face lift as is Spiderman. And even the FF is getting re-booted. It will be interesting to watch, because lightening does not always strike twice.X-Men...I'm not thinking this is going to go over very well. It's too off the beaten path with none of the actors from the other movies. I think the public equates X-Men with Wolverine/Jackman, and his absence will make this movie look like cheap without the star power.

Well now we know. Captain America will get his trailer debut during the Superbowl.

You know with all of the hype I would love to see a film based on Rom Spaceknight...
Does marvel still own the rights to him??
It would be a change of pace movie and sorta like a invasion of the body snatchers mixed in with terminator etc.
That would be great I loved the books and the story was (Wait for it) ORIGINAL compared to alot of movies out thereComment

Hmmmm.... back in the day, the idea was that a comic fan was a fan for 3-5 yers and then they moved on to other stuff; which is why comics would reset every 3-5 years. I wonder if they've extrapolated that idea to the movies?

I would have to agree with that. This not only keeps the movies fresh, but the merchandise as well.>I think what you see is Marvel re-branding some of their established characters.

We're in a global depression. We need Superheroes now more than ever!Comment

Oh lordy yes.
They have replaced the old westerns as for oversaturation.
I'd like to see Superheroes go back to being b movies so they arent trying to please everybody with these blockbusters.
No more love intrests or details on thier civilian life.no freaking hamburgers named after them at Burger king.
I dont care who is in teh costume. Its a superhero movie not Children of a Lesser God. I want more beefy wrestlers that look the part rather than big name pretty boys.
Fighting, action , explosions. uh, fighting.
All the action , none of teh romance.
But I hear more films are being targeted at the teen female audience . So forget about it.

I agree but the way the heroes are depicted IMO don't lend to as much hope as they once did. It's as if they are allowed more of a gray area than the simple black and white I prefer. Example: Superman Returns- Instead of just saving the day he's a date rapist / dead beat dad/ stalker. Sure Clark was raised human but not a POS one. They stripped his morality with that movie.
Example #2- Christopher Nolan Batman flicks- all the "real world" for the Dark Knight makes him more psychotic than hero IMO.
So I guess my question is, why can't the heroes be more fun? In fairness the Marvel Hero movies I think delivered the fun much more the DC revamps.
One final comment, I too am a bit tired of all the movies that keep coming out. I would really prefer some more original stuff from the Hollywood machine more so than all the rehashingComment

Bring them On.
I think GL Will be the Stand Out Super Hero Flick this Year.
I know lots of people, and Run into people in Conversations just about Every Week, that Have Never Heard of the Guy, or any Lanterns, and that are Not very Comicbook Knowledgable, However They Know about this Movie.
I think It's gonna Boost The Character to Ironman Status, if Not Beyond,... I personally can't wait for the Animated Series.
I wanna see this, and Cap ... But will Most Likely Pass on the Theater Expirence with the Rest, Till DVD.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .

To merchandise the hell out of in a world where people are already in debt.
When a hero gets a movie he's reduced to being Twinkie the Kid or Count Chocula. A commercial Mascot.
Two Suervillain movies have come out. Despicable Me and Mega Mind. Since they are billed as Cartoons and not Live action computer generation I can swallow it easier. Plus Villians are more interesting. And it's a bit fresher.
Wouldnt a story about the Sinister Six be more fun than anothetr Fantasic Four?
Make it R rated !
The all in black/motorcycle suit look is getting old.
If they went to R rated b movie status maybe we could see MORE COSTUME TIME.
Nobody would have wanted to see darth vader sitting around in his pajamas.
How about we merge Superhero with the 1980s action movies? Chuck Norris, Dolf Lungren kinda stuff. With KILLING.Comment
