For the record - I just want to see good or fun movies - I don't care what the source is.

Check out this current schedule:
Thor – May 6th 2011(2D & 3D)
X-Men – June 3, 2011
Green Lantern – June 17th 2011 (2D & 3D)
Captain America - July 22nd 2011 (2D & 3D)
The Avengers – May 4th 2012
Spider-man – July 3rd, 2012 (2D & 3D)
Dark Knight Rises – July 20th 2012
Iron Man 3 – May 3rd 2013
Just this summer alone, this genre has FOUR big budget films coming out from May to July. Could one or more of these films take a hit at the box office if the public's appetite is not up to the challenge? Does it become a domino effect if the first two films fall short of critical and mass appeal? I think those are fair questions to ask. Plus all of those movies are converted to DVD in the fall and winter before the public gets another wave next year. For fans like us, this is a dream come true. But I just wonder if Hollywood is putting out too much for the general public to stomach.
Don't foget Ghost Rider 2 comes out in Feb 2012, and Superman is also slated to comeout at the end of 2012.
I can't wait I am super excited about them!

I doubt they will flop... they might not all be blockbusters - but I highly doubt any of them will be considered flopsComment

If Green Hornet can make it in a January release....there is hope for the summer releases.....I think XMen might tank....the other X movies were not blockbusters to begin with....they made money yes, but not Iron Man money....or Dark Knight money.
I think Cap will work because it is a superhero movie but also has WWII elements in it's favor. Thor and GL also have crossover appeal....you have the fantasy and scifi elements so I think they will both workComment

Wasn't there supposed to be an Iron Fist movie with Ray Park? Seem like the Superhero movie has become a genre onto itself(drama, comedy, musical, action-adventure, horror, sci-fi, western). Wouldn't mind seeing Moonknight up on the big screen. When is Nick Fury gonna get his own movie?Comment

I don't know how they are going to do the Captain America movie but if they did it the right way with the right story line; it could be the biggest super hero flick of all time. Go with the patriotism appeal along with the WWII theme and you have a winner. Indiana Jones in a Captain America suit...come up with a good story line put anyone in a Captain America suit and you have a winner."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Comic fans have been waiting years for the movie business to break away from just Superman and Batman, now that we have more characters out there people are complaining? We are finally getting what we want, just as long as they make them good and respect the source material and don't go too off character and style."Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

I would LOVE that! My biggest problem with every superhero movie so far is that the characters come nothing close the the physical action of "Raiders of the Lost Ark".Comment

>Hollywood will beat this horse until it's dead,
I think that's closer to the mark. Once something makes money the execs like to go with it until it doesn't, and someone finds something else that does. Remember how EVERYTHING was sci-fi in the 70's, after Star Wars hit? And that lasted right up until the 80's: ninjas, ninjas, ninjas!

I think Captain America is getting the most skepticism, because the studio has been very slow to release information on it. Plus we're all still waiting for a trailer. Its very hard to say what a film will be like with only photos to judge by. I would love to see a trailer blow me away. Fingers crossed.Comment

I think Thor will get a boost from being the first out of the gate. If he was last he probably wouldn't have held up as well as Captain America will in that slot.
I think GL is going to blow up and be the hit of the summer, but Thor and Cap will do well.
X-Men...I'm not thinking this is going to go over very well. It's too off the beaten path with none of the actors from the other movies. I think the public equates X-Men with Wolverine/Jackman, and his absence will make this movie look like cheap without the star power.
