The Green Hornet show always played it STRAIGHT though, unlike BatMan. Hornet and Kato went after drug dealers, there was gunplay and erotic implication, and the fight scenes were far more on-point than say BatMan duking it out with "Thug 2" in the galley of a cartoon pirate ship. BONZO! KABLOOEY!

And yeah...Seth as the Hornet....whatcha gonna do...

BIG props to the SciFi Channel as well - this SURE beats their usual programming! ('Cobra vs. Aliens part 6' and 'Return to Yeti Lake' LOL)

ANYONE put these Hornet eps on DVD..?? I just caught the last couple of episodes, and missed some doozies. From what I saw, the picture quality was pretty good, not as dark and murky as some DVDs I've seen.

If anyone has the entire run on DVD, PM me. I'd like to purchase if the price is fair.

I actually kind of hated the show during the late 80s when I thought Batman was nothing but dark and serious. I know better now, but the Hornet show makes me wonder what could have been with a different approach...

But onto the show itself. Bruce Lee is the man, and it was fun watching him totally wreck the bad guys, but I think Van Williams gets the shaft. He cut a very convincing hero. Very driven. He looked the part and was totally convincing as Britt and the Hornet. He carried the show from what I saw. I always hear him mentioned in passing with this series, and now I know that is wrong.

My only gripe is the opening pretty much stunk. Looks like they cobbled on together for a pilot and never went back and redid it. After Batman's spectacular opening, I was expecting something as equally cool.

I know a lot of folks are harshing on the new movie, and I have my reservations as well (although I'm willing to give it a shot), but I thank it for finally giving me a chance to see this show after 36 years!

I have been a huge fan of GH for years I admin I started watching because of Bruce Lee but Van was great and I am a HUGE fan of Al Hirt's performance of Flight of the Bumblebee for the theme

I loved the episode where the crooks are trying to find this newspaper reporter supposedly trapped and being watched on close circuit TV. But when they turn on the television they see Batman and Robin climbing up the side of a building. You an see the Green Hornet crack a smile. I loved that! I agree completely with Chris. This turned out to be very addictive for me also, because they didn't air the Hornet as much back in the late 60's and early 70's. So I didn't become familiar enough with individual episodes as I did Batman. I just remember the Hornet being played straight. I then purchased the DVD "movie" compilation years ago (which really did not do this series justice). The TV series is really quite good. Actually more violent than what I thought they would allow in those days. People got whacked all the time. My wife sat down and watched some of these! Now THAT is saying something.

I think that was "Ace In The Hole" Yeah, I was cracking up at that Batman nod, too. Too funny.

Some of the eps are so good! I like the potlitical one--just proves how effective the GH "costume" is!

And both two-parters are pretty engaging & ambitious.

                          ACTUALLY, I can one-up that..!!!

I was watching one of the 2nd season Batman episodes ('Marsha, Queen of Diamonds' ep..? Not sure..), but Dick Grayson is at home with Bruce and Aunt Harriet, and mentions wanting to catch in 'Green Hornet' on TV..?!?

                          I was SHOCKED..

Nice thing about the TV Land-taped episodes, they did include some nice banter scenes typically cut from other stations.

If ANYONE taped all the Hornet episodes, please PM me.. I'd love to grab 'em on DVD. The marathon seemed to have them in good quality.

Green Hornet and Kato did a "window cameo" in September 1966 (King Tut episodes)...Season 2

The following year, they did a full guest-star shot in the two-part episode "A Piece of the Action" and "Batman's Satisfaction" (March 1967)....still Season 2.

For over 30 years those two Batman appearances were my only glimpse of GH and Kato. They were played relatively straight, but I had no idea their own show was positively gritty compared to Batman.

I remember reading somewhere that Burt Ward's stunt double had heard about how Bruce Lee roughed up the stunt guys on the Hornet set, and he told Lee something like "Dammit Bruce, don't pull any of that kung-fu #@$% with me!"

Burt Ward was a black-belt, but his little green shorty arse would have been smeared if he really tangoed with Lee.

Of course Burt could have probably taken Adam out any day of the week.
