Why didn't they give the kid a haircut? Jeez... All we need is a punk rocking Parker.

He doesn't look like Peter Parker at all, and neither did Maguire.
Age-wise, he looks like they just took the training wheels off his bike.

Who will play the bad guy: Justin Bieber?

On the bright side: at least I can save the money of the theatre ticket. By not going...

He looks okay I guess. His hair is weird. But Nicholas Hammond had helmet hair too...

I still say he looks like Shaggy on those CN Scooby-Doo movies.

I don't suppose anybody will ever truly look like what each one of us imagines as Peter Parker but this guy seems to have elements. The big hair is popular right now so of course they're going with that. If the movie had been made in the 70's he'd have a 70's hair style. If it was the 80's, then same thing etc. So I'm not going to stress over the hair. What's important is can he act the part? I saw him in Facebook the Movie (that's my name for it. I forget the real title) and he was good in that.

The source material for this film is the Ultimate Comics.

To me, Elijah Wood embodies the comic book Peter Parker. When he played Kevin in Sin City, i kept thinking, that's Parker!

^ I couldn't get past that either. I kept seeing Ditko's Peter Parker (with his glasses) as a freaky killer!

But Wood's probably too old for a reboot with Spidey in High School. Now if they'd just continued the previous movie series with a NEW Peter Parker, Wood would have been perfect.

What's the logic behind rebooting the movie series so quickly while the past series was/is still so popular ?

It would be like rebooting Superman in 1982 (shortly after Superman-2)

The answer, quite simply is Disney. Sony has the rights to Spider-Man but eventually they will elapse and revert back to Marvel (Disney).

Making Spider-Man four with Riami and company crumbled (probably over money I don't know though) but they still needed to make another Spider-Man movie hence the reboot.

At least this is how I understand things from what I've read/heard. This is the same reason that Fox is rebooting Fantastic Four and why that Corman FF movie got made in the first place.

Also, Sam Rami was very unhappy with the Script changes forced upon him for SPIDERMAN 3. They basically shoe-Horned Venom into the storyline.

Wood has the right look - but he's tiny! I heard they didn't need special effects for him to play a hobbit...
