Lead actress quits Broadway Spiderman play

I think instead of calling it, "Turn out the Dark", they should pack it in and say, "Turn out the Lights". I've never seen a Broadway play so inept in execution and drowning in record breaking debt. It seems as if their tied to this disaster because of the money invested ($65 million). And yet no one can figure out a solution. Whoever constructed this fiasco will likely not work on Broadway again if this can't be salvaged. What a colossal blunder.

Wow, so it hasn't officially debuted yet, right? Geez.

I'm not one to dog-pile a project everyone's kicking, but by all signs, this one deserves every kick it gets!

It's starting to sound worse than the ill-fated "Carrie" musical of the '80s -- which at least opened.

The Times article says this is directed by Julie Taymor?!?! She is known more for her successes in Broadway and Film. She made the Lion King what it is on Broadway and directed thes films:

            The Tempest (out now)

            2007 Across the Universe

            2002 Frida

1999 Titus (confusing to watch at times but very good I thought)

The article goes on to detail changes she made to the Spider-Man Cannon.

"Ms. Mendoza played Arachne, a spider villainess who has a major role in Peter Parker’s becoming Spider-Man and who becomes obsessed with the superhero. Arachne is a signature creation of the show’s director, Julie Taymor, who said in an interview last month that she conceived of the character several years ago after having a dream about the transformation of a normal teenage boy into a powerful superhuman."

So she's not really adapting Spider-Man but adapting a dream she had. I guess super-hero is just something she can't get the hang of.

Opening date has now been pushed back to March 15th....apparently they're changing the ending.....

They should just call it a day and let everyone get jobs elsewhere....
