Agreed! I loved "Year One"...and how Miller split the story between Batman & Jim Gordon. And when they cast Gary Oldman in Batman Begins...I was a happy Mo-Fo.
As much as I loathe what Miller has done to Batman since Year One, I think his greatest contribution to the Batman mythos is how he fleshed out Gordon, and actually gave him some characterization, aside from the guy who calls in Batman when he's overwhelmed.
As a kid, if you told me that this guy was going to have such a pivotal role taking down Ras, Joker, Scarecrow et al, and NOT Robin, I wouldn't have believed it.
Now I really do want Gordon solo adventures based on Gary Oldman's performance. I think he could carry is own Gotham PD crime procedural TV series with Batman as just a background element. The Shield meets Life on Mars.
I love seeing an iconic name like Gordon get a bigger scope character-wise
the way he has. Cheers to Jim!
(Next up.......PERRY WHITE!)

They should revive the Gotham Central title with Gordon as the lead....
That would be terrific. I understand at the time why they went in another direction, but with Montoya and Chris Allan off doing other things, it would be great for Gordon and Bullock to head up a Gotham Central revival. Shame that Brubaker and Rucka have left DC for now.
That's alotta "DCU intrigue" bang for your buck there, and actually widens
the potential for White's character a lot as Gordon is the physical type
and is more fleshed out overall yet Gordon isn't a "superhero" persay and wouldn't steal too much of the spotlight from Perry like Supes or Bats would.
And there's a whole lot of potential with their respective occupations
working hand-in-hand....simillar to Clark Kent and Dan Turpin actually....
or any press/hero or press/cop teaming in DCU or Marvel U past.
