Just finished the Capt'n Eli books... What a FUN read!

Just thought I'd take a moment to throw in my two cents about Jay Piscapo's Capt'n Eli books. I just wrapped up reading them and I must say I'm truly impressed. I had grazed through the books prior to my interview with Joe for an up coming edition of my show and found them visually fun, but now having actually finding the time to read them I am really impressed.

The pacing is fast in both Volume's 1 and 2 of the Undersea Adventures of the young hero. It truly was a page turner. I couldn't wait to see how the time travel "left's and right's" were going to play out. Add to that the old school use of panels made the book enjoyable to the kid in me who still prefers this style of comic book storytelling. And I think that with that the young readers that the book is intended for will enjoy it as much as I have.

The only things that I see as a negative in this review would be the same as the positives. Will kids appreciate this old school style? I can't come close to reading a young mind no matter how hard I try but I think with Jay's use of 2D and 3D art with lots of colors, that will help on that front. But overall I think that given a shot the readers will enjoy the books.

So in the end of this limited review I gotta say that if you are looking for a book that will be a fun introduction to a brand new world of action packed undersea adventures for your child I don't think you could go wrong with Capt'n Eli and all of his heroic comrades and dastardly villains. As for me I can't wait to find out in "The Mystery's of the Devil's Sea".

I really love 'em, both the stories and the artwork...the whole package.
