Greenlantern: The Movie Gets A Director

I was just on comicscontinuum.com and I was shocked to discover that WB is planning a big budget movie of
Green Lantern. And it will be Hal Jordan and his origin story. Well, I just read that some guy named Greg Berlanti has signed up to direct the movie. And on superherohype.com, I read that the Flash movie now has a director. And Wonder Woman is still in the writing stage. I personally wish there would be a live action Aquaman movie. Now that would be perfect.
    Cheers.

Yes, an Aquaman movie would be great, Aquaman is one of my favorite comic hero's of al time.
I didn't even know there was a Flash or Green Lantern movie coming out, I am shocked actually, Green Lantern has always been a DC favorite of mine, I will be looking out for it, thanks for the heads up on this.

Well...there kind of, IS a Live-Action Aquaman Movie. You can buy the un-aired Pilot to Mercy Reef on DVD on eBay...and it's not bad either.

I am in wait and see mode for flash and GL films there has been talks about this for years and much like Superman for 20 years the projects got canned. When filming begins I will start to get excited. otherwise it's just more development.

ive heard that all these solo movies (GL, Flash, WW) are meant to be "spin-offs" of the 2009(2010?) JLA movie.

...thats a big bet to make, because what if the JLA isnt another Spider-Man or Batman Begins, but a crapfest like Catwoman? then you've sunk several film franchises all at once.

and yes, i would of course love to see a live-action Aquaman movie. Russell Crowe as Aquaman, Denzel Washington as Black Manta, Cate Blanchett as Mera, Kenneth Branagh as Ocean Master...done!

oh, and if they fit in Guy Gardner in th GL movie, i want it to be Bill Paxton, channeling his performance as the mean bully brother in "Weird Science."

I predict Dane Cook as Aquaman, Eddie Griffen as Black Manta, Cathy Griffen as Mera and Golbert Gottfried as Ocean Master. I also predict on the day of the announcement, Rob will figure out a way to set fire to the Aquaman shrine.

                  Brian-

please erase the words "Dane Cook as Aquaman" from your post, as the risk is too great some hollywood producer will be on this board, see it, and say "hey, that's a good idea!"

...and on the contrary, if that suck-***** concept ever got made, i would feel the Shrine's work is more important than ever!

I'd really like to see this done as a period piece set in the late 50's. Someone with the looks of a younger Bruce Campbell to play Hal would be nice, too.

I think GL, more than any other comic property, has the potential to be a great, epic sci-fi film, with some super hero trappings. It could be the Star Wars of the super hero flicks, much like Johns is treating it in the current GL title. With all of the lore, the alien worlds, etc., it could potentially a Star Wars or Lord of the Rings type phenomenon.

IF its done right. Let's hope so.

Too bad Dennis Quaid is too old now. He was pitch perfect for Hal Jordan in his younger days.

Thanks for the update. I'll still believe the movie when I see it.

I'll believe it when I'm sitting in the front row and the title comes up on the screen!

And I agree with E2C this could be the 'Star Wars' of superhero films (although Raimi's Spidey movies fit that role in terms of worldwide box office and cultural influence). Alien-battling space adventures featuring a hero who just happens to wear a spandex suit bridges the gap nicely between sci-fi and superhero!
