I never understood why Peter Parker was a high school student and his Aunt seemed to be in her 70's. Wouldn't his aunt be more late 40's, early 50's at the most?

In the 616 Universe, Ben is the much older brother of Peter's dad.
ie if we assume that Peter's parents were about 30 when they had Peter, and that Ben and May would be 40+. With Peter well into his twenties, May would be approaching seventy.
However, this reboot is reportedly based more on Ultimate Spider-man, where after the initial few arcs, May did seem to get younger and is portrayed in her forties. She doesn't take any guff from Peter, and isn't sitting around waiting for someone to bail her out of financial trouble (she actually goes to work everyday as a single mother) or her third heart attack.
Sally Field has the spunk and no-nonsense attitude for Ultimate Aunt May. I'm actually hoping that if this series is successful, they follow the Ultimate Comic and allow May to know that Peter is Spiper-man. They have managed to mine a real terrific tension and stronger, more realistic relationship because of this. Loving the current "Amazing Friends" status quo in USM, where Aunt May has also taken in Iceman and the Human Torch.
I like Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, but would hope that they DON'T follow the Ultimate Universe and give him that ridiculously dated pony tail.
These casting choices are quickly telling me this project is doomed. Regardless of what anyone thought of Spiderman 3, the problems did not lie in the casting of the core characters. You don't fix what isn't broken. Why oh why the Studio believes they can make lightening strike twice by recasting this franchise is just unbelievable to me. Sally Fields and Martin Sheen are just tired actors from past eras who are too well known in other capacities to come off believable in these roles, already established by other LIKABLE performers. Who will be Norman Osbourne? Chuck Norris? How about Lee Majors as Doc Connors? You see? It just doesn't fit. This thing is a mess.

Sounds like a "MARVEL U" LOVE BOAT episode.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
