Batman hasn't been this good since O'neil and Adams. I'm digging Morrison's run.Comment

^ Dane, I don't get it myself but there are some people still worshipping at the Altar of Morrison.....to each his own I guess....Me I'd rather see Geoff Johns' take on Batman and the world of Gotham....Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

That's why I don't think this is the worst idea Morrison has come up with. The protracted and going-nowhere RIP arc and then getting zapped by Darkseid idea was worse. And Damian is the most horrible addition to Batman history ever. The idea that Dick would tolerate a killer as his sidekick is ludicrous to me.I really shouldn't get worked up about this....This isn't MY Batman....I'm not reading any Batman titles anymore....I'm saving money....Morrison and DC are actually doing me a favor.
I've recently learned to unclinch, because none of this stuff is "real". Hypertime had it right. Everything counts, so Batman Inc isn't anymore legit than Scooby-Doo Meets Batman. It's just another version, that will soon be forgotten and over-written.

So true.....
I think part of the problem with all of these types of stories is they pile on unnecessary baggage to a character over the years until it reaches the point where stuff will be forgotten, retconned, rebooted, etc.
I think when comics really started to push the perpetuating soap-opera elements arc after arc after arc is where the problem lies....It's almost like when you google the Susan Lucci character "Erica Kane"....check out how many times the chick has been married
Over the course of a character's lifespan it chips away at the believability factor....which is difficult to begin with when you're dealing with super-heroes and fantasy elements.
Give me some done-in-one Batman-as-detective stories once in a while to soften the blow from these continued dramas into absurdity....
But I don't think today's writers could write something as concise as a 22 page non-continuing story...maybe a small handful like JMS over in "Brave and the Bold"Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I think you're right. I think the majority of modern writers wouldn't be able to control themselves with trying to write a done-in-one story. The urge to drag out subplots ad naseum is too great nowadays. The writers of old used to toil under the conventions of a strip as well. Sure, changes were made on occasion, but not everyone got to throw out the baby with the bathwater for a "brand new direction!".So true.....

It's all those directions that pile up on the characters as you said. Similar to Erica Kane is Homer Simpson. How many times has Homer been fired from the power plant, got a new job, and then went back over 20 years? And the characters have aged a year at most. Of course that is a comedy, so you can kind of shrug that stuff off. But super heroin' is serious business...

I'm not writing this to be controversial. I'm really enjoying Morrison's Batman. As for Inc., it's a different take on the character. It's like a corporate version of The Outsiders.
I am a fan of Morrison. His Animal Man and Doom Patrol brought me back to comics. I will agree that his hits and misses can be extreme. We've all yelled at each other enough about the man's talents.
At the moment, I'm very tired of the straight take on superheroes and need something different. Morrison's Batman, along with Scott Morse's book at IDW have been very entertaining.Comment

Damian just showed up as The " Robin" in the Teen Titans book.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .

You can't really think Batman:INC is a good idea?
I just wish Morrison would leave the Batman Books...permanently!
