    New Gods on Smallville

Anyone else just a tiny bit disappointed that they didn't cast Ed Asner as Granny Goodness?

I had to google to figure out which of the Female Furies was Mad Harriet.

I hope this means that they have something bigger and better in store for Big Barda (and her husband) down the line if they went with an obscure Female Fury like Mad Harriet over her.

It's kind of cool that Smallville seems to be having success with the Seven Soldiers/Final Crisis take on the New Gods where it's considered more of a form of possession.

Which of the New Gods do you want to see show up this season?

I think Orion would be a good choice for the show, lots of angst there. Huge MM fan as well, the suit could fit in as a stage costume.

Did Orion and Mister Miracle ever hang out much in the various New Gods title? I always thought they were ripe for a mismatched brothers from different mothers kind of pairing.

      Anyone else harbouring this theory?

I can't think of a better way to ratchet up the stakes, particularly since things seem to be going relatively well for Lois and Clark now that the secret is out between them.

Not sure where Lucy Lane would fit into all of this.

^The thought had crossed my mind. And would be way awesome. Ironside is the best Darkseid!

What do you suppose is in this box? (mother?)

Given the fact that Smallville has been kind of riding the screwball His Girl Friday style vibe between Lois and Clark for some time now, if Ironside does end up being possessed by Darkseid, it would be a fun twist on Meet the Parents.

Darkseid or no, I'm really looking forward to this episode. Hard as Nails Ironside having to deal with "Mild Mannered" Clark as a potential Son in Law just seems like the makings of some good funny.

In the comics right now Lucy and General Lane are kind of riding the line as Superman antagonists working anti-alien black ops for the US government.

I didn't make the connection until I read this thread, but how cool would that be?

One of the ladies I work with is a huge Smallville fan and it has been an absolute blast to explain comics history and the Superman Mythos to her in the context of Smallville. She got caught up in the show, but had no Superman background prior to watching.

For a long time, those explanations were me pointing out the disparity between the show and the Superman Canon. Lately, it has become more along the lines of me saying, "now, here is why THAT is significant!".
