Alex Ross Does The Classic Batmobile!

For those of you who still buy Super Hero model kits comes news from the CultTvman website, Alex Ross was contracted to do box-art for the new Polar Lights/Round 2 model kit of the classic Batmobile. It's a no-brainer, right? I think this is the first time Alex has been commissioned to do a vehicle painting rather than a straight-up superhero image.

See the links below. I did not hot-link the photos Steve Iverson took of the box art because he has had issues with internet piracy in the past and I have not obtained his permission to paste the box-art into this thread. Do check the shots out. They are nice work by Ross.

Story here-scroll down. Image of the Deluxe box. Regular box will have the same art but cropped:

Info on the kit itself, which will be super-detailed and larger than the Aurora re-issue kit. Check it out-it's- great features:

That is a beautiful painting of the Barris mobile... kind of makes you wanna see a whole '66 Batman comic painted by Ross. How cool would that be?

Ross has definitely captured the look, it has that 60s painted period feel.

Terrific! Although I guess they don't have the rights to Adam West and Burt Ward's features, which would explain why they are obscured?

I wish Ross would do the classic TV incarnations more often.

Where does the ihobby expo take place?
My store in the MEGO MALL!

Well they are in a car with a windshield and the focus is on the car, after all. I don't know how much emphasis do you really need of the actors faces in a shot like that? They would be like less than 1% of the image.

Not sure about the iHobby expo. Look it up on his site. It should be there.
